Redworth Hall Hotel offers a mix of experiences, with many guests finding the rooms spacious but outdated, and while some find the cleanliness satisfactory, others mention comfort issues. The spa is praised for its treatments, though it can get crowded and certain areas need upkeep. Noise levels can be bothersome due to both guests and the building itself.
Service is generally well-regarded for its friendliness, yet occasionally marred by inefficiency. The hotel's scenic location is a highlight, but some travelers question the value, pointing to pricey meals and spa services.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed here again after last year as our first overall experience was good despite minor faults and attention to detail.
Occupying two rooms on the ground floor on a five night dinner bed and breakfast basis the following are points of praise and criticism based on our overall second stay.
1) The rooms were easily accessible being on the ground floor and within easy reach of the main restaurant and bar areas.
2) Again, we commend the breakfast self service where the food was hot, plentiful and the waitresses were efficient both replenishing the food supplies and removing used plates from our table.
3) The Hotel is set in lovely scenic and peaceful grounds well off the main road with ample free parking for hotel guests.
4) The overall cleanliness of the hotel was well maintained.
5) The layout of the hotel was a little confusing, particularly accessing the 'Retreat' leisure spa from our ground floor bedrooms via the lift/stairs and then walking a distance through the lounge and bar areas.
6) One of the bedrooms could have benefitted with a portable heater as it was particularly chilly both during the day and night. Ideally the bedrooms and public areas could have been warmer via the hotel's radiator system which were not working/permanently switched off during our stay.
7) The bedrooms were lacking mini fridges and room safes.
8) It would have been better to have milk dispenser machines available to everyone on every floor corridor. The milk cartons are inadequate as we had to ask for fresh jugs of milk every day from the bar.
9) The evening dinner meal allowance of ÂŁ32 per head was stingy as it effectively restricted you to a two course meal every night. The meal choices could have been extended to cater for a younger generation who prefer options like pizza, stir fry or perhaps lasagne/pasta for instance. It was particularly mean that we were charged extra for a coffee after our meal on one night even though the cost of all our meals was well under the allowance/head. Considering the overall cost of our stay was around ÂŁ1500 it left a bad impression.
10) Noticed a couple of lights were not working in our bedroom.
11) The hairdryers needed replacing as the motors in the units were on the point of cutting out.
12) Noticed a large carpet stain on the fourth floor from last year was still evident.
13) The approach road to the hotel and grounds was in an appalling condition full of pot holes, ditches and tarmac generally breaking up.
So overall our second stay was satisfactory but for the overall cost of our stay we were disappointed there were too many minor faults still evident. It could have been better.

We stayed here for 2 nights, it was lovely.
We upgraded to stay in the old part of the hotel and the room definitely had the wow factor. Unfortunately we stayed during the hottest 2 days of the year so the room was very warm. We suggested to reception that it might be a good idea to close the curtains, open the windows and put the fan on for a while before guests arrive. This suggestion was taken with a smile and a thank you.
The breakfasts were brilliant with a lot of choice, well presented and cooked excellently. We had one evening meal which was fine but not outstanding.
The spa was lovely and pool temperature perfect. As with other reviews the outside area could do with a little sprucing up and clearing of fallen leaves.
The staff were wonderful, nothing a problem or too difficult to sort.
There was a wedding when we were there and we were worried that there would be noise from other guests as we have experienced in other hotels. Not a problem here.
All in all a wonderful stay.

Where do I start. We've been coming to this hotel for many years, but on our last visit we were very disappointed. We stayed 16th February, the Valentine weekend, and from the start it was very bad. When I booked our spa room I emailed the hotel requesting a specific floor as being near a lift is required due to medical reasons, we were allocated a room on the ground floor, we'd stayed in it before so were happy with that. Unfortunately on arrival when checking in, I appreciate it was 2.10pm, but wasn't expecting the response I got off the receptionist saying the room wasn't ready, to go back in half an hour and actually check in is not until 3pm. We sat in the reception area and waited and watched every other people checking in and given their room keys straight away! 50 minutes later, after a word with a senior member of reception staff, our room was eventually ready, we were angry after sitting for so long and watching others! After a quick bite to eat in our room we headed down to the spa, what a complete waste of time, what we wanted was to relax and enjoy the surroundings but this didn't happen! The place was like a crèche, kids in the pool throwing things around and parents quite happily lounging around on beds or in the jacuzzi completely taking no notice of what their kids were getting up to, totally unacceptable! The jacuzzi itself was a no go area as it was full continually with people who just thought that was their spot for the whole time! There were no available beds as people had put towels on them then subsequently went off to the bar area leaving them unusable for others, this is absolutely out of order!
Swim time is allocated 2pm to 6pm for kids, far too long as people who would like to have a quiet swim or relax have no chance.
When you work all week and look forward to some downtime, having it totally spoilt is an absolute shame. We have a lovely friendship with some members of staff and they go above and beyond, but unless Redworth change their policy on the spa area and the kids in there, I'm sorry but we may well not be back for a while.

Really really bad, don't waste your money! Most double rooms don't have a bath, they have a accesible (disabled use) shower. The hot water in the rooms is luke warm at best. Over crowded spa area. You'd have to get into the jacuzzi with 5 strangers otherwise you'd never get to use it. Cleaninless is not great either. We requested to get a normal room with a normal shower at least pr a bath and all they had was a room with vinyl in the bathroom. We also booked dinner with them and we were told at check in that all they had available was a 9pm table. Every bit of our stay was dissapointing. The room, the spa, the dinner. The duty manager was not helpful he said sorry but I can't do anything about your complaints. He offered us a refund and said we can go somewhere else.... poor!

We decided to stay at Redworth Hall as somewhere different from our usual spa haunts.
We booked the deluxe spa suite deal with the ÂŁ32pp meal included. There were positives and negatives.
Positives
-Arrival we came at 1430 and were able to store luggage and enjoy the spa until our room was ready at 3pm.
- The room was beautifully decorated and appeared clean with chocolates and prosecco. The bed had red rose petals and included bath robes but only 1x pair of slippers (unsure if this was deliberate)
- Spa - lockers were ÂŁ1... previous reviews stated they were dirty. I found them clean.
Showers available with hairdryers and swimsuit dryer and bags if you need them.
The sauna and steam were enjoyable
- Restaurant and bar we were served quickly and the staff were friendly and approachable.
-Room - good size, bed was comfortable and lovely clean bathroom
-Restaurant- Breakfast there was a good varied choice of hot and cold food. A great coffee machine and yorkshire tea bags!
Negatives/improvements
- Spa - as stated by others was very busy, the pool isn't very big and all the lounges were empty but covered with peoples towels so the 2hrs we were there we didn't get a lounger. The jacuzzi was packed and only seems to come on every 10min. The changing rooms provided no private locker so I ended up getting changed in a shower cubicle with a soaked floor. Not everyone wishes to expose themselves when getting ready an option would have been appreciated.
- Room - limited service table no decaff tea . No fridge in the room.
-Bathroom - the jacuzzi bath water was Luke warm. When I went to use the shower there was no instructions and we couldn't turn it on. We rang guest services who were very good and the manager came promptly to show us how to use it (The silver dial with the hole in it was stiff but turns round to put the water on)
With only an hour before tea I then went in the shower but the water was stone cold. I then had to bathe in the bath again to wash my hair - not good.
- Restaurant - starter served in a cold bowl.. chicken terriake the couple next to us sent theirs back. I'm not one to fuss so ate mine which was lovely but the plates should have been hot. The highlight was the bread which was beautiful.
We did go to guest services in the evening to tell them about the shower and another couple had also complained. We were offered a drink each to say sorry but we were headed to bed. The water was hot in the morning.... it may be worth the hotel having a sign to say the water will be colder during peak time.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, we like to go visit different places and I would recommend this stay to others and hope management take onboard some of the criticisms to make improvements.
Hot plates, a sign for cooler water in peak times and no hogging loungers in the spa would have increased our rating.

We had a 2 night stay for a special occasion. We booked a deal in a standard room which included breakfast , ÂŁ32 towards evening meal each and a bottle of Prosecco.
All of the staff that we met were lovely and enthusiastic and if there was a problem they were keen to put things right .
I had called the hotel in advance to request that Prosecco to be changed to red wine and this was noted by the person I spoke to.
On arrival we were asked when we wanted the Prosecco, so I reminded reception that we had asked for red wine and for it to be delivered to our room.
Room service arrived with Prosecco so they apologised and said they’d return with red wine. Then the bar rang to ask if we wanted red or white!
The room was clean but it was cold on arrival. We found out later that the radiator had been switched off at source after the Duty Manager investigated this for us .
The main room and bed were clean and comfortable.
The bathroom however was very tired and needs a refurb. The shower over the bath needed replacing and the head needed descaling so was poor.
Breakfast was OK but not great. Poor quality cereal and very sticky honey/maple syrup bottles that needed a good clean.
Eggs of choice could be ordered and this was a welcome addition.
Evening meals - the restaurant was set in the main canteen type area and not set in the grand room, more romantic setting as advertised. So the ambience was spoiled somewhat for the celebratory meal we had expected.
We sent olives back to the kitchen which were hard as rock with no flavour - not marinated as described. Mains were OK but not memorable. We ordered one dessert on the first night that was poor . More pub grub than gastro.
We would have liked to have used the spa just for a couple of hours late in the afternoon of our stay, after our hike . However we had not booked a treatment and were in a standard room, so the hotel was going to charge for a bathrobe at £7.50 each. Given the inconvenience of this for changing and feeling like we were being ripped off for essentially 1 hour’s use of a bathrobe each, we did not use the spa facilities at all.
Overall, it was OK but we won’t return. The hotel does not match the standards we expect of a 4 star hotel . It was very disappointing and not value for money.

We arrived at 3pm to check in and were greeted to a huge queue trying to do the same.
This wasn't a problem to us though as we just headed to the bar for a quick drink until the queue went down
Checked in quickly and easily after the initial rush of guests.
Room was clean, comfortable and nice and warm (a little too warm during the night).
We couldn't fault the staff as they were all so friendly and especially the young girl who was working on her own in the Retreat bar.
We had a bar meal on the Friday in the Retreat bar which was very good. We had chosen our meals but were told they had run out of some supplies which made it a little difficult to chose another option from what we felt was already a menu of limited choice. We then went to the spa and
paid ÂŁ7.50 to hire a robe and flip flops to find that the spa was crammed full with know where to sit and we had to wait for over 3 hours for an available bed.
Once we gained access to the spa it went from bad to worse. The pool was really cold, the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were so full we couldn't get in at all so eventually gave up and left the spa. We left feeling disappointed and frustrated and certainly not relaxed.
Breakfast this morning (Sunday 2nd March) was carnage. Long queues waiting for breakfast to find there was no bacon, fried eggs etc ready so forced to wait further.
Whilst the hotel has such potential to provide a wonderful experience it continues week in week out to overbook guests in, and especially at weekends. It was obvious to us that they didn't have enough staff to cater to guests needs as efficiently and effectively as expected.
To conclude I would suggest the introduction of a booking system for both the spa and breakfast as I feel this would give guests a more pleasurable and fair experience.
We have stayed here many times but sadly until the issues above are resolved we won't be returning, sorry. It's such as shame as it could be so much better!

Absolutely shocking stay and I will never return.
The hotel itself is incredibly dated, the room we were in was so basic and falling to bits, had a stale smell to it, no bath towels or robes/slippers for the spa. On walking to the room there were windowsills filled with dirty plates, alcohol bottles and rubbish.
We could not dine in the restaurant as it was fully booked but were not advised to book beforehand, we tried to get seated in the cocktail bar for some food but again this was chocker as the hotel was overbooked and reception staff admitted this was a failure on their behalf. We then tried to get room service as we had nowhere to sit and were then faced with a ÂŁ7.50 charge for ordering to the room, despite it not being our choice to eat there. When we did eventually eat, it was overcooked and stale!
We were unable to use the spa as it was overly crowded, no seats, no beds, unable to use the facilities, the spa had no available robes or slippers.
Breakfast was so busy, queues for food and drinks machine.
Couldn’t wait to check out and was not the relaxing spa break we imagined, incredibly busy, loud and full of kids, of course it’s understandable to bring children but not expected on a spa break.
Can’t however fault some of the staff.

My husband and I stayed in a house room with spa bath. The room was very large and was really nicely decorated to fit in with the style of the hotel.
We were provided with robes and slippers and used the spa from 3-7pm. We were able to find a lounger each as it wasn't too busy. I had a massage with chloe which really helped me to relax. We had pre booked the restaurant for a 2 course meal, we ordered and within minutes it was there, small portions of 1 parsnip, 2 carrots, little mash which was cold, beef was lovely and I so was dessert, but wasn't worth the price.

Dear nicolabS8920KX, Thank you for providing feedback on your recent stay with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time in the house room with a spa bath. It's great to know that the room was spacious and tastefully decorated to complement the hotel's style. We're pleased you found the spa facilities enjoyable, and your massage with Chloe contributed to your relaxation. However, we apologise for the shortcomings in your dining experience. Your feedback on the portion sizes and temperature of the mash is valuable, and we'll use it to make improvements in our restaurant service. We appreciate your honesty and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for an enhanced experience in the future. Kind Regards, Lee Kirtland Hotel Manager

Booked a deluxe room as a treat. Large room but found it was over the front entrance and reception area. Had people outside smoking or chatting until well after midnight. Noisy. In the morning 6.30am a coach pulls up and keeps engine running. Luckily you can't open the windows as they are welded shut so we were saved breathing in engine and cigarette fumes. Room was in the oldest part of hotel so floorboards creaked and doors didn't shut properly. We had booked a table for dinner and found ourselves squashed in a room with 3 other couples and a central large table of 10 people on a business trip. The table and the noise dominated the room and all hopes of an enjoyable dinner was squashed. The large table accosted the waitrons with demands even when they were trying to deliver food to the other couples. The noise level was horrendous as everyone on the large table tried to talk to people furthest away and ended up shouting. It was anything but a romantic, pleasant dinner for he two of us. Standard of the main courses was mediocre to say the least with fish overcooked and rice dry and battered fish being 70% batter. At ÂŁ60 pp for 2 courses and a shared 3rd course with coffee (no alcohol) this was exorbitant. There were other spaces available for this large table so why the management thought it best to penalise couples is beyond me. Poor management.

they don,t have mini fridges in the rooms because if you did you probably wouldn,t spend 26 quid on a bottle of wine or pay 6 pound a pint ! you would just take your own
don,t thinkyou can , if you rent them for your session you get to keep the flip flops, you can go to The Retreat for lunch in you dressing gown and flip flops, give them a ring it,s an excellent hotel. Enjoy
Our room didn't have a minibar don't know about the photos
i think it was ÂŁ14.95, its a nice breakfast and fills you for the day. If you eat in the hotel a bar meal would be a better option than the restaurant. Meals are a la carte in restaurant and portions are small. Enjoy all the facilities its a great place
