We had never visited this part of Norfolk before, it’s delightful and Morston Hall was a splendid place to be based for our exploring.

The food here is of course is very good, and we ate here every night, which was a bit indulgent. There is a format to dinner, it starts at at around 7.15 pm with drinks and small delicacies, with the main meal starting at 8pm and lasting till around 10pm. Its a relaxed pace, but never slow, just right we found.

We are here three nights and each night was a different menu, very finely prepared food, using exceptional insight and skill.

There is a good selection of well chosen wine , all at moderate prices. There is a flight of wines option with the meal . The flight of wines was exceptional, like someone had chosen the notes on a piano , so finely tuned but each individual, but overall a melody , very good.

Staff are relaxed but professional, and as it’s a small hotel you can see they are a close team. This is Norfolk and this area of the country is a long way from the big city, the service reflected the location very well.

The room was nice, a small suite, bedroom, living room, bathroom. Adequate for a short stay, no air con means having all the windows as wide open as you are able when it’s warmer weather, which because it’s a small place meant you could a little late night noise from the kitchens.

There were preparations for COVID of course and I thought they affected the ambiance , which was a shame, various things were missing or had been removed, presumably to reduce the need to clean them ? Which seemed to me to make the place a little less charming. Guests were asked to wear masks when walking around inside ( not at tables ) , which some did, but I would say the majority did not .

Breakfast was nice with a small choice, maybe this was because of Covid?

The style of cooking is retrained, fine, delicate at times, , it’s a counterpoint to the likes of the big hit flavours you get at say Ynyshir, or Sat Bains .

All in all very enjoyable and worth visiting, not overly expensive for the level of food and service either, a little remote for some, but a part of England that is well worth visiting.

Ps one word of warning if your taller than 6ft ensure the hotel don’t give you a room with low doors to hit your head on.

We visited Morston Hall for dinner bed and breakfast and it was perfect in every respect. Our room was delightful and spacious overlooking the attractive garden; the staff were professional helpful and friendly and the 7 course evening tasting menu was simply incredible! We enjoyed delicious canapés with our apéritifs in the conservatory before being shown to our table where each course was a triumph of flavour and imagination. We had mentioned our pescatarian dietary requirement in advance and the flair and quality evident in each course was outstanding. We began with a delicious parsley velouté with compressed apple and smoked haddock and went on to a flavourful vol au vent, heavenly sea bream dish, then roast monkfish and finally a delicious dish of halibut with purple artichoke . We also enjoyed a palate cleanser of carrot and apricot sorbet with hazelnut crumb and ended our meal with a sublime passion fruit soufflé with coconut crème anglaise served with a mango sorbet. A choice of home made chocolates to end with!
Breakfast was an excellent finale to our stay. We particularly enjoyed the freshly squeezed blood orange juice and prune compôte with orange and crème fraiche. Lovely choice of hot dishes to follow.
Delightful and highly enjoyable stay in a very special hotel.

What a lovely hotel, beautiful rooms, amazing 7 course dinner & very friendly helpful staff.
The room was very spacious with everything you would require, even down to a selection of cds for the CD player. Hot water bottles, iron ironing board etc
Bedding & towels were beautifully clean & white.
Spacious bathroom with bath & shower
Very very quiet stay in the pavilion.
We had a couple of maintenance issues which we dealt with straight away. Very professional.
The food was amazing, beautifully presented with wonderful taste!
The chocolates at the end of dinner were the best I have ever tasted!
Would definitely return, very enjoyable, thank you all.

An excellant two night stay, complete with evening meals inclusive and excellant breakfasts. A truley foodie experience. This has to be on your list of things to do before you die. Room was excellant,as it was spacious with garden views to the side and rear of the property. A short walk to the salt marsh. Staff were friendly, professional and no ask was too much. We were even greeted by Galton himself while having breakfast. Because we were recently married a few days ago, we were presented with a congratulatory plate of dessert with 'congratulations' piped on to the plate. We stayed in the Sandringham suite with excellant bathroom facilities, including a television mounted above the bath. I was quite taken by the wooden hippo on the window cill.

We had a one-night stay here for a birthday celebration and it really was faultless. The staff were warm and welcoming from the beginning with nothing too much trouble. We had a garden room which was huge, comfortable and spotlessly clean.
Dinner itself was a masterclass in what great Michelin dining should be - straightforward, uncomplicated cooking. 7 delicious courses in a lovely atmosphere with great wine pairings (the General Manager in particular was lovely and had chosen a brilliant selection of wines). We have been looking forward to visiting Morston for a long time and the experience was everything that we hoped it would be - it was very telling that even in a remote corner of Norfolk on a gloomy Thursday evening in January, every table was full of happy customers. It's not inexpensive but is outstanding value for money and we can't wait to visit again in the future.

We have just returned from Morston Hall in Norfolk, England.
The welcome was very friendly and our room (Hollyhock) was very spacious and comfortable with a great view over the countryside. The dining room was very well appointed, with good size tables well separated. The staff were well informed about the food and beverages being served and were both very friendly and courteous at all times.
Galton and his brigade are certainly amongst the very best and the food was wonderful. The dinner menu was a set seven course menu beautifully presented and it tasted absolutely delicious. We decided it was too difficult to choose a favourite course over the two dinners we enjoyed as every course, and the canapés, offered something special. The layers of flavour and combinations were amazing.
Galton engages with the diners too.
Our stay was not cheap but we felt it was a wonderful culinary experience with excellent all around ambiance in a great setting.
We will definitely be returning.

We stayed here for one night as it was our Silver Wedding Anniversary that day. We took the Dine and Dream package and stayed in Sandringham. The hall is beautiful and they were managing the covid restrictions very well without reducing capacity. We had a nice welcome and were taken up to our room but he couldn’t take us in because of corona rules. The only negative about the whole stay was that no one offered to help us with our bags going up the stairs but just let my husband struggle up with both. However I saw other guests having their bags carried for them.

The room was lovely and huge. The bed was big and comfortable and there was a settee, table, kitchenette, fridge and lovely views of the garden. The bathroom was long and thin but had all the facilities we needed. There were lovely toiletries and bath robes. There was a separate shower cubicle which was very efficient and a bath which had a television at one end with speakers in the bath!

The 7 course tasting menu was FABULOUS. The canapés were served to the table and the crockery was beautiful. Every single course was fantastic and we ate absolutely everything. Every plate was beautifully presented and the taste was divine. We were full at the end but not overstuffed. We had to finish by 10pm but that was a small price to pay for such a wonderful meal. The staff also brought us a plate with a thin cake and ‘Happy Anniversary‘ written in chocolate.

After a good night’s sleep we had a lovely breakfast served at the same table with a Sandringham pebble on it and gingham tablecloths. The breakfast menu was very good and it was all lovely.

All in all we had a lovely celebratory evening in great surroundings and all at a reasonable price. Excellent.

We’ve not got out much over the past year or so having spent more time than is good for us at home watching ‘Four in a Bed’ so on arrival I had to resist the urge to start checking the mattress and wiping around looking for dust. I shouldn’t have worried, the room was immaculate and had everything to make our stay comfortable. No crunchy sachets of instant coffee - a coffee maker and fresh milk in the fridge.
All the staff went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and absolutely nothing was too much bother. The food and wines were absolutely amazing from the Afternoon tea through to Sunday lunch. Seldom have I ever felt so relaxed and taken care off after a weekend away.

We had the 3 night break which was a first-class experience from start to finish. The room (Beeston) was large and comfortable with a separate small lounge with tv and sofa and a large bathroom with separate power(ful) shower. Tea and coffee facility with fresh milk in the fridge.
Dinner each night was excellent, the 7-course menu changes completely each evening which is really something special. One of our party was a vegetarian and non-fish eater, but that was not a problem as she had an entirely separate lovely menu each evening too! Mr. Blackinston comes around each evening at dinner to make sure all is well!
There are some fairly priced wines and a v helpful sommelier.
Breakfast is also good with a reasonable choice.
All of the staff were first class.
We have already booked for next year!

This was our 6th visit. We got engaged at Morston which gives me a perfect excuse to keep mentioning return visits!
We were a bit worried as hadn’t been out since March, but we needn’t have been at all concerned.
The hotel was spotless, the staff were absolutely covid-secure, without it ever feeling sterile or greatly changed. The service was impeccable and the food and drink out of this world. Particular plaudits for the suckling pig and the pea dishes which were extraordinary.
We were able to sit out in the garden for pre-dinner G&T’s and it felt like a little corner of heaven. The gardens (and the lavender) are superb.
We have booked a return visit in October to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary (any excuse!)
Don’t hesitate to visit. It’s wonderful.
