Recently acquired guest house/bed an breakfast by Elizabeth, who will be offering a refreshed experience allowing you to fully relax and enjoy our hospitality as well as a great bed, great shower and crucially a hearty breakfast with a number of hot and cold options. The guest house will be revamped and updated as soon as we can possibly begin major works but rest assured this work will not interfere with your stay in any way as works are planned for off season so allowing for a refreshed guest house with a Mediterranean feel but offering good old fashioned British hospitality and welcome.

Detailed Reviews
Arrived on the Monday lunchtime and we were greeted by the landlady who said we had a second floor bedroom. When I explained my wife was using a walking frame she immediately sorted out a ground floor room.
Comfortable room and a fantastic breakfast. The only comment would be a tight squeeze in the en suite but other than that marvellous. Especially considering they have only just started there. Will be back.

Robert and Elizabeth gave us a very friendly welcome just weeks after they took over the guest house. Breakfast was excellent, including lots of fresh fruit, and as veggies we felt well catered for. Storage space was found for our bicycles. The guest house is ideally located for those arriving by train, and for the centre of Sheringham. We were so fortunate to find this comfortable guest house at a time when everything seemed to be full.

I didn't stay at this B&B but I would like to thank the landlady (and her son) for letting me use her toilet when I was desperate when I was in Sheringham the other day. I was so desperate, there was nothing open close by at that particular time and my bus back to Norwich was due in 5 minutes, I would not have lasted the journey back and if I had hunted around for a toilet (I was relying on the toilet at the North Norfolk Railway but it had closed for the evening) I would have missed my bus back to Norwich and would have had to wait 3 hours for the next one.
Thank you so much to you and your son for letting me use the toilet.

In March having booked an evening meal on the steam railway to celebrate two 60th birthdays we booked 3 rooms at The Guest House Sheringham via booking.com.
On 29th June I contacted the property to ask about parking. Imagine my horror when the reply said that all rooms were cancelled! This has never happened to me and no reason was given……….

Avoid this hotel at all cost. It is a disgrace to the lovely seaside town of Sheringham. The cost per night was advertised as £120 with breakfast included, but this was not the case. It still cost £120. The photograph of this hotel on the website belongs to a lovely Victorian building some 250 yards away as we found out. There were no visible signs of any fire exits from the upper floors and no fire regulations displayed anywhere. No chairs were supplied in 2 of the bedrooms we occupied. There were no wardrobes, just a rack to hang your clothes on. The faults here are endless with very few positives if any.

Rude, unprofessional and disrespectful attitude to customers.
I made a booking which was confirmed via booking.com and via email messages with the proprietor.
6 days prior to arrival I was informed by booking.com my reservation was cancelled as ‘I am fully booked’.
My messages to the proprietor and calls made by booking.com the the owners went unanswered.
They clearly do not care about honouring bookings, cannot be trusted and have no respect for customers.

Can’t review the actual guest house as never got to stay.
Despite booking with an agency on 14 May for a July stay, we got notified a couple of days before our stay that the Guest House had decided to cancel our booking. We had restaurants booked and train tickets booked, but due to the festival taking place, nowhere else was available at such short notice.Booking agency tried to bump us down to Cromer which was unacceptable.
My advice is to check your booking, then check it again. Be warned.

As Elizabeth says in the introduction she is in the process of revamping this guesthouse. The location is excellent! Right next to the poppy line. Elizabeth was kind enough to ensure we had Parking on site. She was extremely flexible with both check in and checking out. The breakfast menu was great! Fantastic Fresh fruit in the morning and also a personalised full cooked breakfast in a small conservatory. Elizabeth was very personable. The place is decorated for an older clientele. And does need quite a bit of work. However everything was clean. I wish her luck with the revamp.

Visited the Bayleaf first week in August and we were greeted by new owners Liz & Rob who gave us a very friendly welcome. A good hearty breakfast with an excellent choice of fruit, cereal and a full english really set you up for the day As the guest house is going to be refurbished and modernised by LIz and Rob we wish them every success and cannot wait till our next visit .

A warning to all travellers, don’t book this place, as it’s not fit to offer any form of accommodation and should be removed from listings. I wouldn’t pay £10 to stay here, let alone the extortionate £120 advertised. The place is run down, dirty and smells strongly of illegal substances. Previous reviewers can think themselves lucky that their stays were cancelled at the last minute !!
