I spent one night at this hotel prior to attending a funeral nearby. The staff were incredibly friendly and most helpful. The rooms are extremely clean and well appointed, if not a little old fashioned. The linen and bathrooms were very clean and I cannot fault the accommodation at all. Dinner in the evening was a little pricey, but I...

My husband and I treated ourselves to a day out and decided to have lunch at the Orwell hotel. Very reasonable price for tasty 2 course meal. Well presented by pleasant and friendly staff. Easy to park. There are some interesting events planned for the summer. We hope we can get back for some of them.

This hotel was recommended to us by local people so this hotel was especially disappointing. Decor and furnishings (including carpets) throughout need a desperate upgrade. There is a distinctive musty smell in the communal areas reminisent of a Retirement Home. The plumbing in the hotel is old and hopelessly inefficient. Virtually no pressure in the shower and temperature either scalding...

really wary of mass catering - but needn't have worried this time. Really gorgeous starter of caramelised onion and goats cheese tart with a really yummy tomato pesto. Roast sirloin of beef with all the trimmings - not the crispiest of roasties - but ok. would have liked more gravy. dessert was cheese and biscuits - needed more biscuits -...

To date this has been one of our favourite venues for lunch in the area. Sadly no more!! Four of us met for lunch and found menu completely different. Set meal, once fabulous, was awful. Badly cooked, badly presented. Very small choice. Before it was difficult to choose what to order. Starter, potato and leek terrine inedible. Main, half a...

Generally a good stay, everything was clean if a bit dated. The lady on Reception was very helpful printing us a map of Felixstowe as we needed to find a specific place. The room and bathroom were a good size. A couple of negatives, there was some sort of function on and the music extremely loud, although to be fair...

Been many times before and love this hotel but sadly a recent afternoon tea left us a little disappointed. It was obvious that it had been prepared well in advance because the sandwiches were beginning to harden and the cakes were stale. Everything was dry and quite frankly difficult to eat. We had informed the reception in advance that one...

Popped in for a valentines cocktail. No queue at the bar but left after waiting in vain for 20 minutes for our drinks. Barman seemed oblivious. The opulence is long gone but a little atmosphere remains.
