Booked a table for 4 people for Saturday 1st may at 4 pm. Drove down from London on the said Saturday and was called by restaurant at around 11ish to be informed that they had cancelled our booking due to POTENTIAL RAIN !! I asked if they had an alternative option and was told that tepees were available on a 1st come 1st served basis / I asked them to honour the booking and give us a table - they refused . We did go to the restaurant at 4pm and asked for a table under the tepee to be told they were fully booked for the whole evening despite being told tables would be available on a first come first served basis - they lied! Subsequently, we had no where to meet friends or eat that day as it was too late to make alternative arrangements. Shocking disrespectful treatment of customers!

I've been going to the Swan in Southwold for 45 years. In that time I've had some good meals and some really bad ones! I booked for lunch today not knowing anything about the outside location or the menu. On arrival you're led through the old car park into an oasis! The chalet area has been repurposed as an outside dining area and it's stunning. There's about 12 tables a very long distance apart set around a pretty green area. The weather was incredible and it really did feel like being abroad. There was a short but very tasty menu. We had oysters then halibut with chips. Which were as good as you could hope for. But the highlight was the staff. They literally went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. To the point of bringing a bed for my dog with a bowl of water! They really were excellent and faultless. It's the kind of level of service you would expect in a top London restaurant. A genuine pleasure.

We stayed for two nights at the Swan over Christmas, We have stayed many times before .I have to say we had a really lovely time, the staff made us very welcome and made our Christmas Day very special. We felt very Covid safe and other guests were very respectful of that. The food was excellent and room was very comfortable , we had a lovely Christmas tree and gifts too. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us . We had to leave on Boxing Day as the restrictions changed and the hotel provided us with a food hamper to take home which was fabulous! I would just like to thank all the staff for their hard work and hopefully we will return again later in the year.

A wonderful break before Christmas, with great food, drink and service in a covid safe environment. The Christmas decorations were excellent and sitting in the dining room looking out onto the town square decorations made it all so special. Thank you. We look forward to returning soon.

Exceptional staff & food, great location, faultless service, beautiful decor. Avoid the rooms facing the brewery during the week as can be a bit noisy during business hours! Will be returning in the new year.
