The room was small and very hot, looking out onto a small wooden roof within the hotel. Noise if Windows open adding to the heat. The restaurant manager, when approached for dinner was rushed and not attentive, I had to ask for a drink order and he left before my wife could order, dinner was enjoyable but the flicking light...

Lovely room, loads of space. Large and comfortable bed. Clean. Very good breakfast. Good location and plenty of parking. Helpful staff. Negatives? No milk in the room and no fresh fruit (as advertised). However these are minor points. Would stay there again.

The location is ideal. Well connected to the bus station, railway station, city centre and churches of the Methodists, Jehovah's Witnesses and bus stops. We went to this hotel for a colleague's celebratory afternoon tea. The food was lovely and fresh and there was plenty of it. Everything was delicious and they catered for fussy eaters too. It was a Saturday afternoon and the decor and dining room was a lovely calm area. We were not rushed and everybody had a lovely time. Better...

We booked direct with the hotel way back in January for a double overnight and paid a non refundable deposit. Price was on par for the area and reviews seemed ok. Our room stunk of cooking from the nearby kitchen vent, so we had to have the courtyard facing window closed so there was no ventilation on quite a warm...

We have stayed here several times while visiting family in Chelmsford. Our last stay was in April for 10 days. Our room was a "premium" room, very nice which appeared to be upgraded, comfortable king size bed, and clean. We had a huge bathroom which was nicely tiled with a huge shower and tub. I stayed here a couple of...

Yesterday, around 50 guests came to my 70th afternoon tea party, held in the Crystal ballroom at this hotel. The whole afternoon, from start to finish absolutely surpassed all my hopes and expectations. The room looked beautiful (partly thanks to Lacey's Event Services) and the food was delicious. The staff, particularly Duty manager Sandeep and waitress Emily were superb, and...

There is some old time charm in this place as compared to the modern box type hotels. We liked the long winding corridors, and I guess every room must be a bit different. The place was clean and tidy, and the room was warm. They also had plenty of (very!) hot water for a good bath! The place was very...
