A lovely setting, in a beautiful part of the country for a charming hotel. Stayed one night as we were attending a do at the nearby Clearwell Castle. All hotel staff were very friendly and the room was very nice. Had lunch, with a nice bottle of wine, and breakfast both used local produce and very well cooked. Major bonus...

The Tudor Farmhouse has a lovely little garden outside reception and a bank of fields behind it. It is in a quiet village setting but easy to find. The food was absolutely excellent with very friendly and efficient service. Staff were knowledgeable about the food, enthusiastic and nothing was too much trouble. We were staying on their offer rate and...

A lovely setting, very polite staff and the tea that was served exceeded what I was expecting . Sandwiches were well prepared and filled. Scone with jam and cream was served warm. The patisserie selection was melt in your mouth. Tea and coffee were also very nice. Not rushed ..ideal for my 91 yr old Mum and myself. A big...

We booked this through Secret Escapes for my wife's birthday - family celebration. Clearwell is a lovely village, with a beautiful Castle, in the middle of The Forest of Dean, We were met by a friendly team on reception and shown to our very comfortable rooms, nicely decorated and furnished and with very well appointed en-suite bathrooms. We had booked...

We booked the Tudor Farmhouse via Secret Escapes for a birthday getaway. The hotel has been beautifully converted from a collection of farm buildings, and the rooms are pleasingly quirky while having all mod cons. We were in Room 19, a Cockerel-level room, which was lovely: spacious, comfortable and stylish. It was great to have a freestanding bath as well...

Dear TravellingNaturalist Thank you for the great review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and your meal. We have noted your comments about the green light, and will ask our maintenance person to fix this for future guests. It is, as you say, part of our smoke detection equipment. We aren't sure what happened with regards to...

Booked recently via Secret Escapes - stayed in the Roost suite and was not disappointed. A virtual forest of ancient beams on the one hand, with up to the minute modern facilities, spotlessly clean. Only slight downside was,for us, the access via two sets of rather difficult wooden spiral steps - we knew this however before coming and got used...

We were very fortunate to win a raffle prize for a Champagne Afternoon Tea for 2 and certainly weren't disappointed. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and certainly weren't disappointed (though it was a very quiet time to go). The staff were very attentive and the food was lovely. The afternoon tea consisted of a good selection of tea to...

This place is amazing! We were in The Nest, which had a lovely bedroom with one wall being the original barn, a tiny original window and a velux window in the roof, a separate sitting room with picture window to the hill behind with sheep and horses and a bathroom with roll-top claw-footed bath and walk in rainfall shower. Everything...
