We were camping nearby so stopped here for lunch while out walking. Very friendly staff, good choice of food. Lunches not cheap but two can share the baguettes.

A good base for a visit and explore the Forest of Dean. The Fountains Inn has warm comfortable rooms and serves good food and drink with very friendly service.
All in all a very pleasant two nights, matching an earlier stay the previous year.

Hello Christine. The Forest of Dean is around 170 miles from London. The nearest British Rail station is at Lydney, 4 miles away, but there is a preservation steam railway station just across the road from us. It takes some organising, but you can transfer to a steam train in Lydney and arrive at Parkend in style :)
