I only had time for a one night break, but was able to relax and enjoy being at Champneys.
Julie welcomed me with an orange/beetroot/cinnamon drink, which I liked. (It's always good to ask what the welcome drink is, if you have special dietary requirements,...More
This is the second Champneys we have been to and loved our 2 night stay (Henlow was terrible!). We stayed in the Mansion house suite which made the experience amazing.
Getting up early is key as less busy and you have the spa all to...More
Appalling booking service. Kept waiting almost 20 minutes on telephone line (break I'd wanted to book asked customers to call not book online). Message kept saying 'We know you are waiting' which was even more annoying. I hung up and will not be booking. If...More
We went for a night at Champneys Tring (9th December 2017). When we got there the room they gave us was already taken, or had not been cleaned. We went back to reception and they were really great and gave us a new room and...More
We went to Champneys Tring for a birthday stay. It was ok. I’ve been to the other three champneys and been delighted by the hotel, staff and services. Tring was probably my least favourite of the four.

Many thanks for your feedback Fran. I do apologise for any slowness in our service at reception and dinner. January is proving to be a busy month and we're working hard to keep up with demand. Let me reassure you that far from cost cutting,...More
We would say both are ideal for a romantic young couple, though the grounds at Tring are particularly wonderful for strolling around. The emphasis are all our resorts is on balanced nutrition, but also delicious tasting food.

Actually I thought the food was pretty dull. It looked quite appetising, but didn't taste at all interesting. The staff were quite poor at keeping the lunch buffet stocked up. And some things looked a bit 'tired'. Didn't have dinner there, so couldn't comment.
Generally, I thought the staff were working hard to keep on top of things, but they were understaffed, and yes, I'd agree, not that well-trained. The management has made the decision to go for getting the crowds in with the 'bargain' approach, which is contrary to the exclusive reputation of the Champneys of old. I think the place is lacking in any sense of vision, so you could be right that it is the management at fault.
