With time to kill before catching the ferry back to the mainland, popped in here for a drink and "snack" Good hand-pulled beer and 2 excellent steak sandwiches served promptly in very pleasant surroundings! Probably the best meal of our 4 day stay in and around Christchurch/ Isle of Wight.

To the Bugle for supper, all very pleasant. Drinkable wine and good steak, and the staff were Very helpful and accommodating about my beastly FODMAPs dietary requirements. The chef produced an( excellent) crab salad as there was nothing wheat/garlic/onion free among the starters, and made up a wheat free pepper sauce to go with my steak. They could not have...

This is a lovely old inn with a lot of character. It's only 5 minutes from the port. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had room 7 which is under the roof eaves with a nice view of the port and the square. The only slight negative was that the bed was rather small. It wasn't a full size...

This really was fantastic value. The pub is over 500 years old and given the bargain price of the rooms (we paid £60 including breakfast) I think it would be unfair to expect a brand new feel in the rooms. We were given a very pretty room (no 7) with a large bay window overlooking the centre of town. The...

We recently booked the bugle coaching inn at the last minute for an overnight stay in Yarmouth. It was exactly what we were looking for. The room was a decent size. The downstairs bar was lively and the breakfast was excellent. We would stay again

No 'welcome' hello on arrival, Double Room was large with sitting room bedroom and bathroom. Bedroom had only one bedside table with a lamp whose flex barely reached the table - no table or anything on the other side of bed, not even a socket. Well....we are being torn apart this week! Most unusual! It must have taken you a long time to write such a detailed and damning report on our room. Creaking doors...dim lights...the wrong colour bin,....wrong sized bin bag! Where do I begin! Our rambling, historic 16th century coaching Inn, steeped with history and charm, is not perfect by any means. We...

Peeling wallpaper, cracked mirror, broken shower head, dirty bed linen Appalling decor. Vastly overpriced even with a price reduction when we complained. The restaurant may be adequate but the rooms are worse than fawlty towers. Embarrassingly poor.

Well....how to reply to this? As you can see from previous visitors who have stayed with us, we are not used to this type of unfair damning review. We take on board that some of the rooms in our 16th Century Coaching Inn are a little 'tired', this is all currently being addressed. A crack in our mirror was evident,...

We are sorry that you did not enjoy our soup. Your comments to our distraught waitress were passed on to the Chef, who chose to withdraw the soup, even though it had been enjoyed by others. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bugle Coaching Inn is a delightful 16th Century Inn, steeped in history and charm. We are situated in the heart of Yarmouth, a busy, sailing, fishing Town, in The Square. We are a stones throw from the ferry terminal and bus station. Our busy Pub has lots of nooks and crannies, catering for everyones needs. We have a separate dining area that offers table service where booking is essential. The rest of our large pub is open to all, with a large conservatory area overlooking our courtyard garden and two front dining areas looking over the bustling square. We have two large gardens, which are full of beautiful flowers, and is bathed in sunshine all day where everyone can enjoy dining 'al-fresco'. Our talented team of Chefs have created a fine menu, and extensive specials board, full of locally caught seafood, straight from our harbour. All our food is locally sourced and seasonal, and lovingly prepared by our kitchen team for you to enjoy. Our seven newly re furbished letting rooms are over the first and second floors. There are stairways to these rooms, and due to the age of the listed building, we have no lifts etc. Our rooms are sympathetically decorated to the age and atmosphere of the Inn, with sloping ceilings and low eves in some of the rooms, all adding to the charm and character of this wonderful olde Inn. We offer a very popular full English breakfast menu, which is included in our room tariff. All our rooms are en suite, with flat screened tv and wi fi access. Our friendly, busy Inn reflects the relaxed, unique atmosphere of this pretty fishing town, and we hope that you enjoy your stay with us, John and Claire ... more   less
