We have just returned from a long UK holiday and have been reflecting on how once again, Southgate Little Fowlers provided the perfect first five days of our trip. Susan (as always) was the dream hostess - so welcoming, nothing too much trouble and totally professional. The house is spacious and attractive, provides a beautifully comfortable bedroom and great bathroom and very importantly a fresh yummy breakfast. We can't thank Susan and Alan enough for their wonderful hospitality and for providing such a warm and comforting atmosphere in the cold Spring days of late March. We really can't rate this B&B highly enough. A very special place.

This 17th century house called Southgate, Little Fowlers is the most charming bed and breakfast you could encounter on your travelsIt is ideally situated in the Kent Weald which gives you access to numerous castle and gardens within 10 miles distance and on B roads without the hustle and bustle of major trunk roads.
Access to several restaurants and inns are within walking distanc e
The accommodation is delightful and the welcome you get from the owners Susan and Alan cannot be bettered anywhere - nothing is too much trouble to them and the breakfast in the Victorian conservatory was something to look forward to every morning

My lovely lady wanted to visit Sissinghurst gardens and so I found this B&B on the Net. It looked very good on the screen so I booked as a surprise. This sort of thing normally leads to a slight feeling of disappointment when you finally arrive, but not in this case! The owners are very welcoming and included a small bottle of bubbles in our fridge to welcome us. The house is charming - we stayed in the four-poster bedroom which had lovely views and a very acceptable bathroom - the only drawback was the road noise which was quite high and was not helped by us having to sleep with the windows open as the weather was very hot. Breakfast made the contemplation of lunch unthinkable: fresh fruit, locally pressed apple juice, yoghurt and/or cereals, then a genuine proper full cooked, but, importantly, full cooked with quality ingredients. We failed to even put a dent in the toast!!! Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a night or two away. Try it and see 👍

We've booked this B&B a few days before we went to the UK,so we where looking for a place in Kent with many places to visit in the surrounding area .The location was ok for me,except the road who passes in front off the house, but if you wake up at an early hour it's no problem.Mrs Susan is really a lovely person who takes care off you in every possible way,she makes you feel at home, and the breakfast can't be better.Only minor point the house needs a good entire cleaningsession, afterwards it will be a topB&B.

It was nice to meet you and Marc and thank you for your comments and glad you were pleased with your accommodation for the most part. We note your last comments but Southgate, Little Fowlers is a 300 year old rambling house and despite spending a good part of the day cleaning it is never going to be in as pristine condition as a modern purpose built hotel. Thank you both for staying with us and for taking the time to write your review.

Just returned from spending two days. Beautiful accommodation within walking distance of the village, fantastic view from our bedroom (we stayed in the cream and blue room). Susan was very helpful, and very friendly - and the breakfast is probably the best I've ever had in a guest house. Thoroughly recommended. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny.

My partner & I drove passed this, thinking that we wouldn't have a hope in hell of getting a bed & breakfast on a Saturday night. However, Lady Luck was on our side.

Greeted by Susan, a charming host, who showed us to a lovely Blue & Cream bedroom, overlooking the beautiful countryside. A very comfortably furnished room with twin beds pushed together to make a double & a very good double it was, so comfy.

The only slight downside was a little bit of traffic noise from the road. However, this was August & it was a warm night, so HAD to have the window open. But, there is secondary double glazing, so you can shut the noise out.

Tea/coffee/chocolate, bottled water, fruit all provided.

The en-suite bathroom has floor tiles, lovely & cool. A corner shower - slightly on the small side though. Lovely big sink & huge mirror overlooking the sink. Complementary toiletries - lovely ones, far from bog standard. Two white towelling dresssing gowns also provided.

Our breakfast was served in the conservatory - a lovely old fashioned, proper conservatory, filled with plants & a wonderful grape vine all over the ceiling, which for a gardener like me, was a joy. A lovely place to sit of an evening, as it is decked out in fairy lights, making it so very special.

I digress.

Fresh fruit was served - banana, raspberries, strawberries, melon & fresh figs from their own tree. Cereals were in jars upon the table. Fresh milk served in a jug.

I had a lovely Lime yoghurt which was homemade by Susan, served in a lovely glass sundae pot. What I really liked about this breakfast was that you didn't see anything in packets - sugar, butter, yoghurts, etc,- so you felt that you really were their guests rather than just passing trade. It was very special. All wonderfully presented & this really made a difference to our stay.

My partner & I both opted for the cooked breakfast, which was delicious.

Tea & coffee replenished regularly, croissants & toast served.

A breakfast fit for a King.

After eating, we had a little wander around their garden & soon it was time for us to go, sadly.

However, we will definitely come back for another visit - planned this time - and I know that it will be every bit as special as this time.

Southgate is conveniently situated, within walking distance to nearby shops & pubs. There is a Tesco supermarket just up the road, so handy for cashpoints, etc.

Stayed for 2 nights. Due to late booking we spent one night in the room with the 4 poster bed and bath and the 2nd night in the cream and blue room. The 1st room was bigger and also had a fridge but we preferred the cream and blue room. This had a shower only and the cubicle was a little on the small side. Both rooms had plenty of storage, tea and coffee facilities and hairdryers. The rooms are at the front of the house and have wonderful views over the Kent countryside. The b&b is well situated in a lovely village but within easy access of so many places. Breakfast was plentiful, with lots of choice and very good quality ingredients used, the cooked breakfast is a must!

This was our first time using a bed and breakfast. We couldn't have been happier.

We were welcomed with a tray of tea and cake in the beautiful gardens. As pet lovers we were introduced to Algy the pug and Esmee the cat, so well behaved, and knew where they were not allowed to go.

Superb large bed with excellent cotton sheets, (I've been out and bought some similar since!)

The breakfast was of high quality ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented.

This B & B is close to a number of National Trust properties and helpful advice was given regarding our visits.

A smashing weekend, hopefully we can stay again..

we very much enjoyed our 4 day stay. Our bedroom with 4 poster was very comfortable with a lovely modern en suite bathroom and lots of nice bath goodies.
Breakfast was amazing we enjoyed lovley creamy yogurt and a great fruit selection as well as anything cooked we wanted.
Our landlady Susan could not have been any more welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and I have no hesitation in recommending this delightful b & b.
