Very Very nice rooms.. its a shame about the very drunk man in the bar, who was continually served despite his condition. When we arrived before 6pm it was clear he was out of it... and we just knew that he would kick off. Despite this, he continued to be served knocking over drinks and eventually wanting to fight everyone...

I have stayed at The George hotel three times now, most recently on the August bank holiday Sunday, had a lovely carvery in the afternoon and that night they had a very good singer performing in the bar. The rooms are spotless and the hotel is a relaxed and friendly place,I will be going back soon.

Per Judith R's review from 30/5: "The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was an ensuite but no soap/cleaner in shower. No hot water in the hand basin, and no glasses. Room is over bar so it was a bit noisy on Saturday night! Parking area at the back of hotel and convenient position." Well, during...

Popped into the George Hotel in Lydd High Street for a quick pint. Only one choice of bitter, which was served without any of the bonhomie you expect from a village pub. So a disappointing start. The outside of the pub/hotel has just been redecorated and looks fine but it belies a drab interior which is in need of a...

The room was beautifull, the bed was okay, we slept like babies. There is a parking area at the back which is very good. The owners are very nice people and do anything to make your stay as comfortabel as possible.

Visited for lunch on a Friday. Lounge bar typical of a back street local (even if it's located on the town High Street). Staff were friendly enough and helpful. Chef himself came to check we were happy. We just had 'basic' food - a sausage baguette and a chicken burger. All was perfectly ok; chips were actually very good. Good...

This is the worst hotel I've had the misfortune to come across. It really should not be open to the public. Cold, dark, dank with peeling wallpaper and a smell that's difficult to describe. Didn't have the heating on in the bedrooms as it wasn't worth the cost for just a few guests! Stay well clear.

Apparently my friends and I should have known that food was unavailable after 1930 when the menu (on the tables) said 2000. Did I get an apology - did I hell. The landlady is rude - end of. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - CUSTOMERS, PARTICULARLY VISITORS (as opposed to regulars) ARE CLEARLY AN IRRITANT...
