spent a couple of days at the Walpole. if you like a bit of character this is the hotel for you. It starts in the reception with some curious items and a wonderful 1920 lift. On both nights we had dinner in the hotel restaurant. There was a good choice and it was reasonably priced.

Had a wonderful tea with a friend, excellent service, scones were a bit crumbly but lovely, the tea was served in proper matching China tea cups and saucers, with plates and teapots to match. Lovely to see it still exists. My friend is in a wheelchair, which was not difficult but needed to have special ramps put out and help...

We threw a Baby Shower at the Walpole Bay Hotel for a close friend, 16 of us in total and it was a lovely afternoon. It could not have been easier to book with the hotel, they were very swift to respond to messages. We were able to pay for our own choices from the menu on the day, which...

A refreshing change from faceless chain hotels! This hotel is like staying in a museum... and I'm a sense you are... On the second floor is a museum where you can see staff uniforms and hotel paraphernalia from a bygone era. There is also a collection of napkins customised by hotel visitors including some by famous artists such as Tracy...

I absolutely loved this hotel. We did not stay but had the 5 course Sunday lunch. Step back in time to old word charm and service. The food was very tasty, served by very friendly staff. We will be back - such very good value.

We had promised ourselves a visit for some time and I would say that everyone should visit an hotel like this at least once in their lives. Combining an hotel with a museum is a sublime idea. The outside of the hotel is so charming and unique and the inside, even more so. Friendly staff and an Otis lift from...

Not the first time we have stayed at the hotel so we were aware what a great place this is to stay! Bit of a shame to see the draft cider and Guinness has been taken out with the updating of the bar, but the bar area does look very good. I did find the bottle beer a little too...

We went for a one night stay for a Valentine's treat and had a lovely stay at the Walpole. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and we sat on the terrace when we arrived and had a great afternoon tea (photo for good measure!) - they really looked after us! Two words of warning; upstairs is boiling hot, so...

We arrived at the WBH last Sunday with my mom and grandma It looked so wonderful from the outside and the inside as well. It's has a 1920's feeling, with all the fascinating decor and old objects. We were welcomed by the front desk personnel, they politely asked us what we would like for our cream tea ( sandwiches, scones,...

We have had many Sunday lunches at the WBH in the past but last year we had a job getting in as they were so very busy and fully booked. Giving a lot of notice we were lucky this time and were booked in for our lunch. The Walpole is just so special and we were so glad to be...
