Firstly the positive...the Spa area was lovely. Except for this our stay was one of the worst experiences I’ve had staying in hotels. Our room was unbearably hot but we could not find any heat source to adjust. We called reception but no answer so we left to go out to a

Our son had given us a luxury 2 day getaway voucher for Christmas, we reviewed the possibilities and chose the Dunckenhalgh Hotel & Spa. Great atmosphere and facilities, very friendly staff, could not want for more. Breakfast catered for all tastes (excellent sausages!), and

It's a lovely building and the staff were very friendly. However (and it might have been influenced by the weather - a cold, windy and wet November evening) I found it quite dark inside with dated and rather tired furnishings throughout. The pool area was also a bit shabby and

We stayed a single night in a privilege room (715) as visiting a supplier the following day. Although the hotel is supposed to be a four star, the decor is tired, the shower either too hot or too cold, not enough towels in the room and it was the most uncomfortable bed in the

Dear SusanB4588, Thank you for taking time to post your review, we are so sorry you did not have an enjoyable sleep and there should have been additional towels in your wardrobe , I shall definitely discuss why this was not the case with housekeeping. Whilst we do understand your frustrations with the system in place to ensure we are able to secure revenue spent at the Bar and Restaurant, it is something the vast majority of venues have in place. Unfortunately we cannot be so trusting of all our customers and as a result those who would pay their bills without fail are hindered by those who consistently try to avoid paying for services received, our sincere apologies. Kind Regards, Ivan Lynch, General Manager

I stayed at The Dunkenhalgh for one night while attending a conference. I was extremely happy with every aspect of my stay and I am quite surprised at some of the previous reviews. On arrival at the hotel I was greeted by some very friendly staff at reception. I found my room to

Hello, I haven’t stayed over Christmas but use the hotel a couple of times a year. I haven’t found it to be dirty. The food in the restaurant is good, breakfast is very nice. We had my mother’ Wake there in January 2018. The food was excellent, service couldn’t be faulted, people hung around much longer than expected because everything was so pleasant even under the sad circumstances. Not a Christmas Party, but an event that went down really well thanks to the staff at the hotel. Hope this helps. Samanthalouise

I’ve stayed in a single room on several different occasions. The thing is the hotel has different wings and some are older than others. I think the hotel itself is 700 years old. I’ve found some rooms to feel older than others. But I’ve always felt it was clean
