Ended up walking out after standing and waiting for ages at the bar to order just a drink. I am understanding of staff being busy and I am willing to wait my turn, but from what I could tell they were stood about or folding cardboard for the recycling... didn't say 'be with you in a minute' or give any indication that they were intending on serving me and only one other person queuing to be served. The bar area does look cosy and relaxing, just a shame I wasn't able to spend my evening there..

Stayed here after a wedding at the outbarn (about 6miles away) and wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff who are accomodating and a great venue. Breakfast was superb and even though the staff were run off their feet due to the hotel being fully booked they couldnt do enough for you. I'd like to return here when we can get out for some nice walks in the countryside as its location is sensational. Its brilliantly situated when the sun is out and has a great outside space. Rooms were quirky- not your average standard hotel - close to the restaurant, not 12floor tower blocks, comfy beds and more than enough space Would definitely recommend and want to return

We stopped here for the first night of our holiday in Scotland. We didn’t arrive till after dinner on h to r first night. But enjoyed the beautiful garden and a lovely breakfast before we left the next day. The Tolkien Way is also here & we hope to return to walk & stay over again.

Re-visited the Shireburn Arms this lunchtime having known the venue for years and frequent every few months. Known for its outside space, views and walk-in bar snacks / lite bites for hikers like ourselves. No info on the website and the phone wasn’t being answered. Having had walk in orders before there we stopped off on our hike. Alas not. Whilst we could have a table outside and order hot and cold drinks and stay for as long as we liked we could not order food. Despite it having a completely empty restaurant (it was 12.45pm) and with only 8 other people outside. Ordered a tea and a coffee anyway. Only to receive them 10 mins later and with dirty cups. Whilst we were there, another 8 disappointed walkers and a family of 4 came wanting to eat as walk ins and left disappointed. We left half an hour later and still no one had been served food. If this is the way hospitality is going, it’s inhospitable. Shame.
