Visited with my husband, we both had the lamb shank & it was to die for! The young lady who looked after us was lovely, and the man in charge who showed us to our table & opened a window when he saw we were too warm was very attentive. Big shout out for the beer which is brewed on the premises too!
We stayed here for one night in January 2022. We arrived around 6:30pm and when we got to our room the heating hadn’t been switched on & it was absolutely freezing cold!!! We went to a nearby pub/restaurant for food as The Tap House had stopped serving at 6pm (it was a Sunday evening, we were aware of this, that was fine.) When we returned to our room, it was still cold, even though we’d turned the heating up as high as it would go. It was cold ALL night. There was also a dog in the vicinity - not necessarily on site, but certainly nearby - which took to howling in the middle of the night. We barely slept all night. Upon reading the guest information the following morning we saw that additional blankets are available “on request”. In a room as cold as that one, the blankets need to be stored in the room, not on request when there aren’t staff readily available on site.…
Although my price was with a discount it was not even worth that. Room was absolutely filthy, beard hair all over the floor in the bathroom, hairs in the sink bed had brown stains in, towels were covered in stains. The shower leaked everywhere, rubbish down the side of the bedside tables, dirty mark on walls, skirting boards that looked like they’ve never been dusted In their life, walls are paperthin and can hear everything my neighbours are saying on the phone. Cobwebs from the wall to the bed frame. Just not practical or clean especially with my 2 year old child during a pandemic. Such a shame because the staff were lovely upon arrival and In the bar, the outdoor seating area is beautiful and there’s a kids park, but the place is clearly not what it seems.
On arrival, three used mugs were sitting on our room's window sill. We had to step over a workman's tools in the lobby outside our room. We then had to step round a pile of dirty laundry. No staff were present. The carpet in our room had not been hoovered recently and had "bits" across the room. We actually had to clean the bedside tables, bed head and other surfaces with wet wipes because they were so dusty and dirty. The wipes were black with dust and dirt. The previous guest had left shampoo and used toiletries in the bathroom which had not been cleared away. We reported these things at the time, but did not receive an apology or explanation. Particularly worrying during the Covid Pandemic. The toilet seat was not secure. The shower was a period piece, would benefit from an upgrade and unless you are 6 foot 2 you will not be able to adjust the shower head. The cold tap was broken. The bathroom door did not shut. The bathroom door handle came off. At this point, we wondered if we were in a TV sketch. However, the room was a good size, well heated and had hot water. The coffee was plentiful but we did fight over the tea bag. …
Booking was cancelled stating that they had double booked even though it was booked four months ago and I know if someone else who has booked it since then for the same dates but for more money! Left a really unprofessional voicemail and refused to reply to emails sent from myself and from the company I booked with. Would never, ever recommend to anyone.
We were travelling to Nottingham from Dorset to collect a family member from hospital and needed to break the journey. This motel was a good choice. The rooms are situated behind The Tap pub and sat nav failed to find our destination so we took a while to find it. Our room was clean and comfortable and car parking in the pub car park convenient. We arrived at 19.45 so pleased to have a meal in The Tap. It was pie night so we enjoyed a tasty meal which was reasonably priced. We slept well but disappointed that we had to travel for breakfast. We would recommend Forest Court for a stop off. The staff are friendly.
Stayed for a few nights in December 2018. Great value accommodation, staff friendly and helpful, room and ensuite clean and pleasant, great nights sleep, parking directly outside and Tap House pub next door is excellent, food is wonderful. Shame they don't do breakfast! Highly recommended
More than comfortable in our room 1b. It’s was clean, fresh and adequately furnished. Best nights sleep I’ve ever had in a b&b ever. Staff where lovely too. Spent the evening in the Tap house pub. Food was excellent and again staff very pleasant. As a group of 4 we’d Definitely stay again next year.
I just stayed in room 1B and it is connected to the HVAC heating unit for the building. The wall vibrated every 20 minutes and the noise made it impossible to sleep (even with a sleeping app) Sounds like running water and generators. The WIFI password details located in the room didn't work. You have to step up into the shower unit and can be quite tricky if you are a senior. Two rooms share one outer door, so if you are a sleeping alone it can be quite creepy that someone is sharing your space from a security standpoint. They quoted 55 pounds per night, but charged 60 pounds.
Stayed here for one night as we were meeting friends and visiting Ashby for the evening. The staff at the adjoining Tap House pub were vary helpful and the check in procedure was all of two minutes. The accommodation block is set well away from the pub and road so it is very quiet. The room is ample size for sleeping in, very clean with a comfortable bed, good sized bathroom with shower and everything was functioning. What more could you ask for!
