We had heard the Royal Oak did a great 'pie night' on Sundays so decided to pip in for a drink on a Friday night. Busy. Nice atmosphere. Staff attentive and polite. Good age range of people some eating some just having a drink. Huge choice of gin! Food looked nice. We will certainly go back and try something to...

We had a limited menu for a large group of colleagues and international visitors from my work. The Vixen was on good form and the food was very good too. I particularly enjoyed the chicken breast with thyme and almonds. Perfectly cooked, it virtually melted in the mouth. Service was good but not always with a smile!

We so look forward to eating here, very friendly warm welcome, great food and exceptionally cold Australian white wine. We popped in recently on a sunday for lunch, no reservation but managed to grab the last table as the restaurant was fully booked all day - which is a brilliant sign of good this pub has everything going for it,...

Visited for an evening meal with friends. Despite being a pub, it has a separate, quieter restaurant area, where we were seated. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was never any feeling of being rushed. The menu was good, with a wide range of dishes. We all had something different throughout the 3-course meal, and all agreed the food was...

Great rooms with all the facilities you need. Loved the teas, coffee and hot chocolate - a really nice touch. The pub was also really nice, welcoming and helpful staff with a fabulous and really tasty menu. Breakfast was one of the best we've had. All round a great place to stop and well worth the money.

This is a lovely pub, very nice decor and welcoming. There is a decent choice of beers (I had a pint of Charnwood Vixen - local brewery up the road), they also a couple of other ales and a decent choice of lagers etc. The real star was the food - the game & black pudding roll with celeriac and...

We spent two nights at the Royal Oak on 13th and 14th. January 2017,on bed and breakfast board basis. We travelled from the North West on Friday taking 2.25 hours on a frosty day which became milder during the afternoon. A family surprise birthday party luncheon on Saturday saw 21 family and friends meeting at this gastropub, which provided a...
