I have stayed here a few times with work, and always enjoy it. The staff are always really friendly and helpful at all times. Rooms are a good size, and beds are really comfy. Sometimes struggle to get the temperature right (room can be boiling but bathroom a bit chilly) but manageable. Have had a few different meals and always...

We were a party of eight for Sunday lunch and found the food excellent. Starters were well received and the main of Roast beef etc was delicious. A special mention for the yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes as a lot of establishments do not have the flavour of these. A dessert of lemon cheesecake with a raspberry sorbet would be...

I've visited twice with colleagues for Christmas dinners and on both occasions have been enormously impressed with the quality of the food, along with a visit with family for a birthday. Dishes are well presented and cooked - at Christmas there is a relatively small set menu to select from but it is high quality, as you might expect from...

Only stopped the one night, but staff were really friendly and the room was nice a clean. bar seemed nice, but we where there to visit friends only managed a quick drink there. Place seemed very quiet on the night (whilst sleeping), but there was an on/off buzzing background noise, possible a dishwasher or something in the bar area, unfortunately...

Saturday evening meal only for seven in the Green Room. Wide selection of dishes ( all available on the night) to choose from. Excellent, attentive service at all times without being obtrusive. Couldn't fault anything. Individual dining room a real bonus. Competitive pricing. We'll be back. Thank you.

Dear Algy We are so pleased you enjoyed your night out in the Green Room at the Star Inn recently. I agree It's a great little private room overlooking the village green located next to our entrance and it can accommodate up to about ten guests. it's ideal for smaller groups and party's that require a bit more privacy. Also...

We went on New Year's Day, keen to avoid the madness of the night before. They were serving a Sunday Dinner menu and my heart sank as that normally means dry beef and a rock hard Yorkshire. I could not have been more wrong. Beef was perfection, Yorkshire a thing of beauty. Service was excellent and the setting is divine.

Hi Skibum. Thank you for your lovely review and we're so pleased to hear you enjoyed your New Years Day Sunday lunch with us. I agree the Yorkshires are exceptional. Perhaps we should advertise more that everything at the Star Inn 1744 is prepared from fresh produce in our kitchen, apart from the Ice cream of course very little is...

After being disappointed that another local pub couldn't be bothered to open we found the Star in the lovely village of Thrussington. Everything about our experience was great. Really friendly welcome - fantastic bar man, lovely beer (Tim Taylor's Landlord) and superb food. I had the local sausages and mash (brilliant) and my wife had a first class salad. Reasonable...

Celebrated end of work for the holidays with friends and enjoyed a super menu, well cooked and with excellent service. Not the cheapest place around, but if you want something a bit better than the average then this is a great place to choose.

We were looking for a suitable gastro pub style place near Leicester for a weekend break. This was a lovely, lively pub in a typical English village setting, right on the green. We have a very basic, clean comfy double room above the Inn but were not bothered by live music in the bar. We enjoyed the pub and the...

Dear Tim We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at the Star Inn, were very proud of our rooms for which we have recently received a silver award from 'Visit England' to add to our English Tourist Board four Star Inn status. We do occasionally put on an acoustic musician on Saturday nights, it's not too loud and...
