The Dovedale Hotel is located Albert Road, a short walk away from the promenade. It is also handy for the town’s small shopping street, St Peter’s Avenue. We were not impressed by the welcome we received on our arrival. The receptionist was rather off-hand, not very professional but not unfriendly. The first impressions of the hotel were not unfavourable. To...

I stayed at the Dovedale Hotel during December whilst on business, having stayed here a few years ago, it was lovely to see that the same staff working here. I do not understand the comments below regarding wifi, there is a clear sign above reception showing the password for all customers. Restaurant staff are attentive and couldn't do enough to...

We were in one the dog friendly rooms. The room was clean on arrival and we were able to check in early the bed linen and towels were all nice and clean. The staff we had contact with were all polite and friendly. The room was very tired and appears as though they've been polishing a turd for quite a...

Christmas Lunch £65 per head and was no better than a microwave meal for one. Food was cold, service was poor, veg was undercooked, I couldn't even put a knife through my sprouts. Gravy which was advertised as rich was as thin and tasteless as dishwater. Turkey was fatty and like those you get in a pre packed foil dish....

We had a meal for 6 people on Friday 16th December and the disappointment is not the food (although this was overpriced for the quality we received) but the serving staff. They are in need of some training to show a little respect to your customers!! We had to ask for the wine list twice before it arrived, we are...

I've stayed here before. This time I cannot get the television to work - I've spent 15 mins trying. Failed and given up. And for wi fi I've got to ring reception to get a code. I cannot be bothered - expect to have a code in the welcome info book. Hard work I'd say. Hotel is clean and staff...

We had afternoon tea for £9, the service was ok but the lady in charge was quite cold. It wasn't busy so I would of expected more. The food look good but was quite dry. Disappointed with this visit. The smoke alarms were being tested which I find quite bizarre at lunchtime, alarms were going off every 5 minutes

We called for afternoon tea with both granny and baby in tow. The tea was delicious and excellent value for money. The food was tasty and the service very professional and friendly. We felt very welcome. The restaurant has stylish decor and overall it felt like a nice treat. Definitely recommend the afternoon tea!
