I've been using the royal for donkeys years and enjoy the atmosphere but trying to buy a drink at the bar is worse than pulling your teath out. After waiting over 15 mins for a beer with only the wonderful Audrey behind the bar we decided to take a stroll elsewhere, sort the management and staff out please!!!!!!!!!!!

The food and service here are amazing! Thank you to Tom, the great bar staff that served is in no time and got our order correct! Huge appreciation for the chef, Aiden, who cooked the food amazingly! A true delicacy! We had to ask Tom for the chef's name because we wanted to thank the chef personally! Amazing staff members,...

A really nice place to eat, the bar staff were friendly including Tom who served us, the food was really good, thanks to Aiden the chef. It's definitely worth the visit, even it's just for a drink, would happily go again.

Staying at the hotel. Had a meal in the restaurant and have to say, Zac is probably the best server/team member we have come across. Superb service from beginning to end. He truly could not have done anything better. These chains could do with taking a leaf or two out of this lads book! He even understood our brummie accents...

Overnight stay for business. Checked in quite late and found the room freezing. Went downstairs to bar to report this and was told it would be looked at. After my meal I returned to the room, still freezing. Another visit downstairs resulted in the young lady coming up with a spanner to try and open the valve on the radiator....

The staff are great here let that be said, friendly and very helpful. We ate here and the food was nice enough although the steak was over cooked, no issues were given a full refund. The room was big enough although my partner felt the need to clean the bathroom herself before using it. Housekeeping here seem very slack and...

A member of my family booked in for one night with breakfast as extra £7. His room was a very long way from reception, as he is in his late 70s with leg problems it wasn't suitable but he said it was only for one night. On the long walk to the room the corridors were very dingy and the...

We went for a Sunday meal. Decided on cod and chips. Both pieces were extremely small slivers and had been both over battered and overcooked. To the extent that one was completely curled over. This was accompanied with an egg cup sized ramekin of mushy peas, dried out, poor quality chips and tartare sauce. The sauce was ok, as they...

Kinda basic but the staff were very friendly. Very close to the Baths Hall, which was perfect for us as we were going to a gig there. Nice room with a decent bathroom. Could probably do with a tiny bit of modernisation but good value for money. Also very close to Scunthorpe City Centre. I would stay here again.

Great staff, the girl who checked me in was particularly friendly and helpful, great bar and dining area. Was given a double room which I found comfortable but thought the bathroom was old and in need of some attention. A banner outside proclaiming it to be newly refurbished is somewhat misleading and I assume refers purely to the bar. I...
