Travellers' Choice
Built in 1906, with captivating views of the Leven Valley on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors, Crathorne Hall is at once grand and stately, warm and welcoming. Owned by the Dugdale family until 1977, the hall has played host to politicians, courted royalty and delighted socialites over the decades. Yet despite moving in stately circles, the house has stayed true to its roots as a place of entertainment and relaxation. Now it is yours to explore. Enjoy an overnight stay in one of our 37 bedrooms (17 of which have recently been refurbished following a £4 million restoration of the Hall's East Wing), plan your perfect day and take over the hotel for your wedding or inspire your delegates with our meeting facilities.

Our local Breast Cancer support groups have visited Crathorne Hall several times during the pandemic. It has been a difficult time for everybody but the staff have been understanding, kind and supportive. Fresh muffins, scones and the scrumptious breakfast buns have been enjoyed. Thank you all so much for your support and we hope to be back soon to sample the afternoon tea. Thanks again.

I pre booked a gathering for my friends baby shower on 24th March 2021 for today 2nd May. The 6 of us were really looking forward to the occasion considering my friend has not seen anyone for such a long time because of the pandemic. I rang and spoke to the receptionist who told me the date was booked. I asked for an email confirmation and I was told that they didn't do them. We had a lengthy conversation about dietary requirements and I asked if I needed to pay a deposit and was told no. I then rang on 2nd May to ask for a celebration plate and to confirm they had non alcoholic prosecco. I was told the booking wasn't made and there was a 'mistake'. They would not find space for us and would not give us the table we booked. I explained I had the relevant call log for 24th March but I wasn't believed. Everywhere is now booked and we cannot celebrate. Do not make a booking here!!

Thank you for your review Erin and further to our call earlier this week, my further apologies for the error made with your booking. I know the team would have done all they could to try and resolve this on the day, however with the popularity of our tepee and limited spacing available, this was unfortunately not possible. I do hope our conversation provided reassurance that this was a genuine user error and an isolated occurrence and we look forward to accommodating your future booking soon. Again, please do contact me directly beforehand, so that I may personally oversee this.

Got married here 18 years ago and was in the area with kids so decided to drop in for Sunday lunch . Outside because of COVID restrictions but under a large tepee. All ate from the Sunday lunch menu , portions are large and good quality , had beef it was perfectly cooked . Kids had pork everyone enjoyed it and was good value for quality , adults 2 courses for £20 and kids £12 , kids portions as large as adults. Lovely place to eat with gorgeous grounds.

Thank you for taking time to review your Sunday lunch here at Crathorne Hall. I am so pleased you decided to return to the hotel after 18 years and really appreciate your kind feedback regarding the food quality and portion sizes. Our teepee has been so popular since we first advertised it and myself and the team have really enjoyed seeing guests dine on our grounds once again. We hope to see you again soon if you are ever in the area.

Visited for lunch, not an overnight stay. Absolutely top notch food served from the festive menu. Thoroughly enjoyed in a beautiful and elegant safe setting near a roaring fire and with view across the grounds. A great way to start the festivities

We booked thus as a stopover for two nights on our way back from Scotland. What a place. Handpicked chose a stunning place with this one. When you enter you are taken back. Our Bedroom room was superb and of a quality beyond what I had expected. We were lucky and I booked this room in March before the price increases that pushed me out of a Handpicked Hotel till the prices drop? next year.....What a shame as I love them. The Hotel is so well maintained and so clean. Much work went into getting this right for the Covid restrictions. The Staff can't be faulted. They all went out of their way to make our stay one of the best I have had from any Handpicked (Not saying others don't offer good service). The setting is what made me leave this comment. We ate there and I had Afternoon Tea as well. Food is the best you will find for a price you can afford. The Sitting areas and Restaurant areas are stunning. Top Notch service! I went for a walk in the woods and saw the Old Gardens. I know this is not a National Trust Property but the Gardens and old Green Houses would look great if renovated but alas, that will cost money. Thanks to all staff and the Porter who greets you is one of the best yet. I hope to come back one day when prices get back to normal..........

Thank you so much for your fantastic review and for sharing some of the lovely photographs you have taken during your stay. I'm delighted to read that you found the service to be 'top notch' and will duly share this with all the team, in addition to your compliments for the food quality and overall cleanliness of the hotel. Your special mention for our Front of House Porter, Elie will also no doubt be well received. We look forward to welcoming you back, hopefully in the not too distant future.
