By far our favourite restaurant. Service and food is always fantastic. Quality of the dishes they serve is amazing, never disappointed and can't wait for out next visit x we have stayed in the 'garden shed' on a precious visit. Quaint, clean accommodation set just down the road from the restaurant

I booked a weekend here to celebrate being with my partner for 25 years. We love the place. It was to be a romantic weekend with our 5 year old son being looked after by my in-laws. But on the same day we were booked in, my father-in-law had a mini stroke. We spent all day at the hospital. After...

We went to the star inn for my birthday, and it was a treat from my wife. It was lovely. We had the tasting menu midweek and it was lovely, they were very accomodating for my wife who is 28 weeks pregnant. I had 2 pints of timothy taylors with my meal, which was lovely. No pressure to take the...

We have been to The Star a few times, it's a place we can go to when we want to have a quiet relaxing evening, or a buzzy sociable evening. It suits as there are different areas to dine, the bar, two restaurants and a lovely garden especially in summer. The food is divine and never disappoints. I booked last...

We haven't stayed here but have eaten in the bar/restaurant and it is superb. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy and the staff are great. The food is always perfect. We also love their little corner shop. This is certainly a place not to be missed when travelling to a north Yorkshire.

Excellent (however, need to warn readers that our Corner Shop became an extra hotel room some time ago - but you can still buy our chutneys and books from the bar!) Many thanks AP

Good choice of food for adults and children. If the sun is out sit outside great views of river and park. Well worth a look for food or...

Been to the Star Inn a few times now. Food is exceptional and the staff are really friendly. Even got a free schnapps to taste before I purchased another 4. Beer garden is amazing. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. I will be heading back there. I had the cumin dusted monk fish with salt and...

The foie gras was delicious and the presentation beautiful . The main course of beef was cooked to perfection but I felt the gravy was so strong and overpowering it spoilt the taste. Maybe it's just me but I do not like alcohol in gravy on a Sunday Lunch. My husband had the pork and I thought that much better...

Sorry that you found our 'Ale Gravy' too alcoholic and didn't like our laundered flatcaps! If you mention this on your return, we'll try to find you some non-Ale Gravy and serve your bread on a plate! Many thanks AP

Spent one night here. Had room 3 which was clean, comfortable and luxourious. Lovely little touches, including a flask of fresh milk. The honesty bar was extremely well stocked. There was cake and cheese etc in the afternoon to which you could help yourselves to. All staff were very friendly. Breakfast was lovely with good choice of items. The meal...
