We came here for drinks with family on a very wet winter's day and were made very welcome in front of a lovely blazing fire. There were no meals available but we had delicious pork pies with lots of home-made chutneys and pickles. A really cosy pub with a very relaxed feel. It's a beautiful old building with lots of...

Found this 13th century old Inn just outside Hawes, lunch time, just days before Xmas. We arrived wet, kids and dog, in horrendous weather, the landlady quickly lit another fire and filled glasses with local ale and we sat on ancient wooden benches gazing into the golden glow from the iron range, protected from the elements by 4ft thick stone...

Hubby and I walked from Hawes with our 2 dogs and intended to have lunch as we had done the same a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Extremely disappointed to find no food on offer apart from pork pies. The pub was really cold-no blazing fires as would have been expected. And as for the staff - rude and...

Called in whilst driving through the Dales on route to Sedbergh and thought we'd have a look at the waterfall in the grounds at the back of the pub. Right so if it's waterfalls you like Hardraw Force is ok if it's a clean pub with a warm welcome go elsewhere. I went to the bar and ordered a pint...

Called to sample the goodies but I think £8.70 for two half's of Timothy Taylor s landlord and a pork pie was a bit steep. Saying that then pie was nice and the beer great. Didn't go to the water falls but there was plenty of people going up and had smiles on return.

The Sunday before Christmas you would think that a small local pub surrounded by holiday cottages would welcome visitors? Well we entered the pub at 3.30pm to have the lights turned off on us by the lady serving. I asked, bemused, are you closed? To which she said not for another half hour or so... why did you turn the...

We visited this very old inn last Sunday. The building is quite amazing with a roaring log fire and full of character. We paid the very reasonable cost of £2 to gain entry to the very long rear garden which takes you to an amazing waterfall 100 feet high. The sound of the water pounding down was fantastic. A visit...

Four of us and dog walked in after a very muddy walk and it was heaven. What a wonderful quaint quintessentially English pub this is. Great log fire burning and no mention of our muddy gear or dog. We had several wonderful real ales and the landlady even gave me a bottle of a local brew (free of charge) and...

Myself and my friends were camping not too far away, and we all fancied a drink so we decided to visit this inn. When inside, we all sat round a big table which was next to a roaring fire so, personally, I felt really at home. The drinks were nice and were pulled well. I can't comment on the food...

What a quaint pub ! exactly the way it should be . Lovely décor with some exquisite fireplaces. I had to struggle to find my way to the 'used beer depot' ...brilliant poster for the Gent's. This was indeed a hiker friendly pub !
