We travelled to Knaresborough the night before my friend's wedding and wished we could've stayed for more than one night at this unique boutique hotel. Gallon House is very convenient if you're arriving by train; the hotel is about a 2 minute walk away from the station. The room itself was very comfortable and clean. A bottle of local beer...

Thanks to Sue and Rick we enjoyed such a memorable night/house party with friends at Gallon House. The house is a feature in its self and all rooms are very comfortable and cosy with many personal touches. The evening meal was first class and the pudding delicious. Views from the balcony were breathtaking. Trying to keep it a well kept...

This was a one-night stay based on the strength of other reviews and looking to add to our various stopover points on the way north or south. It certainly shot to the top of that particular group based on a comfortable night's stay, a well-prepared excellent dinner and the discreet attention from our hosts. However, Gallon House is well set...

We've just returned form a superb weekend break with Rick and Sue at Gallon House. What a treat!! The house was built in the 1830s, and is lovongly looked after by these wonderful hosts. I can only reiterate what other reviewers have said. The breakfasts are superb, making lunch completely unneccesarily, but the evening meals are AWESOME! This is cuisine...

My first review for a while. I disabled my original account a few years back. Stayed here for one night last week. Rick is an excellent host. The property is lovely and very English. Lots of lovely small touches everywhere - a great deal of thought has gone in to making this place very welcoming. Rick offered me an excellent...

Have stayed on a previous occasion, but this time with my partner. The position of Gallon House Hotel is perfect to explore the surrounding area & is situated in a beautiful & quiet location. The trains do not upset the tranquility but add to the lovely atmosphere. Breakfast is wonderful & we had an evening meal on the night we...

Welcomed warmly by Rick when we arrived.Served tea and homemade biscuits on a sensational flower bedecked terrace overlooking the river Nidd .Breakfast was delicious-lots of choice from traditionalEnglish to smoked haddock or kippers. Sue was a perfect hostess. Gallon House certainly deserves the accolades it has received in the press. Didn't sample an evening meal .Next time!

We have visited Gallon House in both April and May and found nothing but consistency with the quality of the rooms, the food, the views and the hospitality. These are our first visits outside the Winter months and the the warmer weather, especially in May, brought the views over the river to a new dimension. As visitors to the area...
