This was our 3rd visit to Gallon House, this time we booked all 3 rooms with friends and had a great relaxing time, relaxing on balcony with great views sipping coffee. an absolute must is booking dinner cooked by Rick, 4 courses were superb and great value for money, effectively you can have a dinner party in luxurious surroundings and...

well ,where do i start?, To quote a previous guest, there are not enough superlatives in the world to describe the Gallon House experience. From the exceptionally warm welcome to the time we sadly had to return to normality and the real world, we could not have had a more relaxing and comfortable stay. Not that Rick and Sue were in...

We booked in to Gallon house for our anniversary night and absolutely loved it. We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The house is beautiful, with stunning views overlooking knaersborough from the balcony. We stayed in the bedroom overlooking the station, and we couldn't fault it, the attention to detail was second to none. We...

From the minute we arrived we knew that we had chosen well. We had found Gallon House through Alastair Sawday's "Go Slow England" and the write-up there proved very accurate. Rick welcomed us and we immediately felt at home. We had chosen the room at the top of the house for the views and they were indeed worth the slight...

Rick Hodgson is the owner and a superb chef, with a flexible approach with regard to content (You don't like red meat? Ok, how about such and such?) and timing (You want a long lie? No problem, breakfast an hour later) The wine selection was excellent. Coping with a gluten-free diet was taken in Rick's stride - he knew what...

I recently had the very great pleasure of staying for three nights at Gallon House with Sue, Rick and Lucy. I was fortunate to stay in the room at the top of the house with the most glorious views over the river gorge and the historic railway bridge. That said the same view is available to anyone staying at Gallon...

Gallon House must have one of the most scenic locations in Knaresborough, overlooking the river, the ruined castle and the stone railway bridge, which can be admired from two of the three bedrooms, or the balcony. We chose it for a Silver Wedding Anniversary treat and were delighted with its understated elegance, relaxed atmosphere and cuisine. Rick spoiled us with...

We only got to spend 1 night at Gallon House and would have liked to spend longer here. We booked a double room with dinner and it was a nice touch when the owners got in touch to ask about our food preferences. Unfortunately when we arrived a week or 2 later they weren't expecting us to eat with them....

We have just spent a heavenly four days at Gallon House and there are not enough superlatives to use in describing our stay! It is one of the loveliest places owned by two exceptionally nice people and a lovely dog.. Rick and Sue could not have been more welcoming and just generally lovely. Our room was perfect, the views unbelievably...
