We stayed at The White Swan with a group of 30+ friends, all Titanic enthusiasts. The hotel had The Olympic Room reserved for our group the entire 4 day stay. The Olympic was a sister ship to the Titanic and the room had paneling and other saved from the ship. The accommodations were comfortable (slept well), great staff (wait staff...

A group of us (4) stayed at the White Swan recently. The hotel is nice and the staff friendly. The downstairs area is nice and the Olympic suite is impressive, the downside is that the bedrooms themselves need updating. My room was clean, but definitely had seen better days. The price per night was quite high considering that the rooms...

If you've read any of my other reviews 'I do like good service and this place doesn't disappoint ,great rooms cosy bar ,I strongly recommend the evening meal in the main restaurant which is built using part of the interior of the titanic sister ship" the food in this restaurant is amazing and top service to go with it

Brought a coachload of tourists to Northumberland and booked for 5 nights at the White Swan Hotel. This group have travelled with me as a guide all over Europe and beyond so are seasoned travellers and have experienced many hotels. Having a group means one has the advantage of being able to sample many rooms and get a balanced review...

Great Hotel, a little quirky if staying right out the rear overlooking main car parks, with a good trek from reception with weirdly uneven floors. Rooms were clean and Warm. Toiletries provided of nice quality. Bed was comfy even thou singles joined for twin. Good breakfast, especially being in RMS Olympic dining room. Bistro food while not the cheapest was...

We stayed here as we came to visit family and the White Swan was highly reccommended to us. Unfortunately we felt as if we were "in the way" is the only way i can describe it. Check in was fast and easy and we got directions to our room. We didnt get offered if we would like dinner or got...

First the positives, waiting staff excellent, sandwiches really good. Other than that, afternoon tea was disappointing, in particular the cakes and scones, when we questioned the standard of cakes we were informed that they were yesterday's batch and would be replaced with fresh ones, the carrot cake was tasteless and the sponge cake no better. The room was dull with...

Staff need training in customer service, not offered drink refills sauces with our meals, in fact was rather ignored by the staff who stood chatting at bar. The food was edible but bland and lacked any presentation. It was hardly surprising we were the only diners.

Went to this hotel after having this bought as a weekend away present. Parking is to the rear of the hotel with an overspill carpark also. We stayed in a room off to the rear of the hotel as this was a dog friendly room. On arrival the room was large with a lovely large comfy bed and was lovely...

Visited specifically to eat in the Olympic dinning room and that was a fantastic experience, despite some confusion around whether we had booked dinning or not. Their staff need some training in how to handle customers when issues such as this arise, blaming the customer is not the approach when clearly their internal systems are at fault, we were one...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a stone's throw from Alnwick Castle and Gardens, The White Swan is a charming 300 year old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. For generations one of the North of England's primary hotels, The White Swan is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors and stained glass windows from the Titanic's sister ship. All 57 bedrooms are designed to an impeccable standard, and Hardy's Bistro, our contemporary, informal dining experience, is open all day for coffee, light lunches and an excellent bistro menu. The perfect stopover en route to Scotland, we're also your base for discovering the famous gardens at Alnwick Castle, and a tour of the very best of the North East with its unspoilt coastline, historic castles and Holy Island, Northumberland National Park and the exciting cities of Durham and Newcastle. Then return to the hotel for a traditional afternoon tea in front of the fire. ... more   less
