As we would be arriving after the check in time of 5pm we phoned the owner (who does not live on site) and he was very pleasant, giving clear information about how to find the keys. However he was coincidentally still there when we arrived,...More

We stayed at Tate House for two nights and were upgraded to the bigger room at the front on arrival, it was a wee bit noisy overlooking the main road but was lovely and bright and the room itself was immaculate with good tea and...More
Lovely room for 2 friends sharing a twin which could also be a double. Though on main road into Alnwick not noisy at all and beds extremely comfortable.
Friendly welcome upon arrival and handy to be able to park at the pub across the road.

The Alnwick Gardens is usually open 364 days a year. Only ever closed for Christmas day. However, due to a major refurbishment of the gardens in January this too will be closed for a month. However, you could always go visit Barter Books, one of the largest secondhand book sellers in the UK. There is also miles of unspoilt beaches with some dramatic scenery to be had. January isn't the best time unfortunately due to the lack of opened attractions. But we are seeing lots of walkers this time due to the lovely weather.
