The three primary things we look for when seeking accommodation. Tate House ticked all three boxes, comfortably.
The B&B is a very short walk from the centre of Alnwick so ideal for all the restaurants and bars. No need for a 'designated driver'.
My wife and I stayed at the Tate House for two days early July 2011 and found it perfect. Leo, the host, was very helpful and was very courteous. The room was comfrtable and the amenities spot on.

The Alnwick Gardens is usually open 364 days a year. Only ever closed for Christmas day. However, due to a major refurbishment of the gardens in January this too will be closed for a month. However, you could always go visit Barter Books, one of the largest secondhand book sellers in the UK. There is also miles of unspoilt beaches with some dramatic scenery to be had. January isn't the best time unfortunately due to the lack of opened attractions. But we are seeing lots of walkers this time due to the lovely weather.
