We had a lovely evening meal here last Friday (May 29th). Food and service were very good. The menu had a great choice with plenty of fish options, the scallops to start were excellent, as was my ribeye steak which was perfectly cooked. We went back for lunch on Saturday ( in the bar rather than restaurant) and had excellent...

Visited the hotel for lunch on a Saturday before the bank hol. The restaurant was beautifully done out, the staff very helpful and friendly but was not overly impressed by the food. At £10.95 you expect the fish and chips to be a little special, the fish was very nice but you expect it with proper chips - not fries...

My husband and I popped in here for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday and were very fortunate to get a seat. Service a little slow, understandably, but we enjoyed our smoked salmon sandwiches. I've stayed at this hotel a long time ago and am amazed at how modern it now looks and yet, the outside still looks the same. I...

We stayed over a busy Bank Holiday. On the plus side, the staff were pleasant and helpful, the food was generously portioned, the decor in the public rooms is very good, and the location is excellent. However, our room was very average pub accommodation, it had the basics but nothing more. I certainly wouldn't describe it as boutique, and it...

We highly recommend the hotel and restaurant after staying there last weekend. Although the room was small it had everything required. Our room was on the main road but that was not a problem as the wooden window shutters were perfect for blocking any traffic noise and light. Ideally located for exploring Bamburgh Castle, Bamburgh beach, Alnwick and Holy Island....

Beautiful setting; beautiful character hotel with a fantastic vaulted bar in the cellar and great restaurant. The staff were a bit varied - good front of house, but the bar man repeatedly called me mate and told all-comers that his mum was collecting the bottles from the bar. We stayed in a standard room overlooking the beautiful gardens, not amazing,...

Popped in here whilst visiting Bamburgh for coffee and cake. We ordered our drinks and were advised to wait a few more minutes till they brought more cakes out. The coffee shop menu looked lovely, with a choice of breakfasts, cakes, scones, biscuits etc. I opted for the Victoria sponge which was just delicious! My friends went for the fruit...

Room along corridor was being painted. Strong smell of paint. Bedroom wardrobe doors did not shut properly. Noise from kitchen extractor fan 8 am till 10 pm every day. Supply of shower gel not replenished. Toilet roll very poor quality. Breakfast - no porridge available and poor selection of fruit - only tinned grapefruit and prunes. Asked for hot toast...

We had two super nights in this boutique hotel. The staff were warm and friendly, the food was excellent and the bedroom was lovely and spacious. The second night we ate at The Mizen Head which is at the top of the town and part of the same group, food and service was also good. We will be back.

Was staying up the road and we were a bit fed up of eating chips all weekend. We walked by and glanced at the menu. Disappointing start though as we didn't know the restaurant was round the back and we sat on an uncomfortable chair and tables in bar area, after asking if we could order no one told us...
