We called in on a sunny bank holiday Monday. It was quite quiet in tge restaurant area. We opted for rump steak and chips which was cooked to perfection, also mince and dumpling which was also tasty , however it only came with mashed potato another vegetable would have complimented it perfectly. The desserts were to die for !! The...

I intended to stay the night after attending a wedding locally. We had been promised a double room with ensuite bathroom. When we arrived, we were told that we couldn't have the double as the last occupants had left with the only key......are you for real?? A hotel that doesn't have a spare key to its rooms?? Really?? So we...

Stopped off here on a Saturday lunchtime on route to Wooler. Our dog was welcomed most warmly by the landlady. She even treated her to some crisps because the crackles from the open log fire frightened her. We were able to relax in comfortable surroundings, watch a bit of the rugby and enjoy a warm cheese and bacon baguette with...

I'd been passing this pub restaurant for the past 8 years as I travelled North on the 697, but never stopped because I wanted to reach my destination some 30 miles North. This time in early February, my wife persuaded me to stop, and I'm always reluctant to stop for standard 'pub fare' We always have just the mains because...

We ate at this pub recently and was disappointed by the quality of food.My wifes steak pie was swimming in gravy and just for good measure it was poured over her chips as well.My roast of the day (roast beef) was pretty tasteless supported by limp vegetables. This should be the best thing pubs do traditional food.No more visits there.

Visited here for the first time despite passing on a regular basis. Food was okay but menu limited to usual pub grub which was ok but not great. Staff friendly and efficient. Ambiance nice and sure it's pleasant in the evenings. Would go back if in the area and imagine it's nice in summer when you can get outside.

I stayed two nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar was good and I had an enjoyable couple of meals there. The room itself was clean; the corridor less so. The main light in the bedroom was a fluorescent tube which wasn't working and there was rather a lot of noise from the kitchen's extractor fan in...

We visited this very friendly village local twice during the week of our Northumberland holiday and we have to say the standard of food and service on both nights was to a very good standard, with very friendly staff and locals. This is not a fine dining pub just very good pub grub with plenty on the plate, you will not...

Stopped off on way home from Scotland both had Turkey roast. Turkey was ok but all vegetables over cooked and cold served with lumpy gravy which tasted as if made from granules, soft Yorkshire and tasteless roast potatoes. One to miss.

Used to stop off here back in the day travelling to Coldstream to play golf, made a good stop off on way to Newcastle. We were walking in Rothbury on Simonside hills and decided to call in on way back, it was a lovely day, parking plentiful, they are dog friendly (big plus), and they have a beer garden, fitted...
