We visited for a festive sandwich in December. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our table, very well looked after by a lady. I had ordered the Brie in sage and onion breadcrumbs - it was out of this world!! My husband had the Turkey Sandwich and that was incredible too! Fantastic service and delicious menu also very reasonably priced.

Booked months ago in 2022 for husband's 70th birthday for a party of 12. Price given at the time of booking for Sunday lunch which was for January 1st 2023, £34.00, on the high side but this was a special occasion to be shared with friends and family. However, the price on the set menu's on the table was £38.00. Ok, no quibble at that point, it was New Year's Day, so maybe that was the reason for the price increase. Regarding the food, I can only comment on mine, the mushroom soup was not as described, had a strange texture, neither smooth or creamy. My salmon main, was not hot or even warm, I suspect it had been left standing, the sauce was tasteless. The dessert trolley is impressive - full marks to the pastry chef. So not a spectacular eating experience which it has now transpired was actually £40 per head they just omitted to either inform or change the price on the menu. Less than transparent which I can't find an excuse for, and as a result we will not be returning. It is our practice to celebrate my husband's New Year's Eve birthday on the following day but we can get better value elsewhere. So the venue may believe the extra on the price is justified but the manner in which it was applied has lead to my negative impression.

We have been here for Spa Day with Overnight Hotel. Spa is lovely but first one that has not had a nice swim pool just a little pool with seating. Snowstorm not working. Staff as they call butlers not very attentive and food although lovely was let down by both courses being luke warm. The outside area could do with a clean up and maybe put on some outside fires although winter still should be usable and nice. Treatments were great. The hotel upon entering had an old sweaty awful smell. The rooms were nice but quite a few cobwebs and one room was unbearable with the heat and the noise from the wedding. Evening meal was beautiful and staff looked after us but breakfast was like fawlty towers, eggs slipped off a plate from one member of staff then was stood on my another and the general manager walked over it. The general manager came out with a dish for another table and was eating something and then took to a table then stuck her fingers in her mouth to dislodge something from her teeth, disgusting. This hotel has lots of character and is very big but it does need an intense clean. Will not revisit as been to better places and the price paid I was expecting a lot better.

We booked at overnight spa package and the spa experience was wonderful, good facilities and excellent food at the spa and hotel, however the hotel room let the experience down, despite having windows fully open all night and sleeping on top of the covers (in october) the temperature of the room was unbearable! Worst nights sleep ever! Mentioned this on checkout and was simply told "will make a note of it!" This unfortunately took the shine of an otherwise amazing stay

Visited for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and despite a small Sunday lunch menu being offered the food was very good. Large helpings, served with plenty of vegetables and piping hot. Although felt £34 ahead was a bit expensive. However, we would not give the restaurant 5* as many of the wine glasses on the table had finger marks and lipstick on and some of the cutlery was not very clean. Also the black tablecloth did not look at all attractive and made the restaurant look more like a pub than a hotel. I would also mention that our group were seated at a table overlooking the road where the sun was shining directly in the face of three people which was uncomfortable. The rest of the restaurant was empty so why we were seated there when a table could have been laid elsewhere in the restaurant. We did mention this to one of the waiters but he made no effort to offer us an alternative table. The hotel needs to up its standards and give a more polished feel to the overall experience.

I'm delighted you enjoyed your lunch on Sunday, I've said it many times before but it really is my favourite service of the week. There's nothing like that smell of roast beef and fresh Yorkshires wafting around the hotel, it's sure to make us all hungry! Thank you for the constructive feedback, we shall take heed. We hope to be able to welcome you again soon. Kind regards Kate

Lovely afternoon tea at Ye Olde Bell, Barnby Moor to celebrate my mum's 90th birthday. We booked a private room, as there were 25 of us celebrating, which made it extra special. The food was very tasty and plentiful and presented on lovely bone china tea sets. The staff were so great and super attentive. Would definitely recommend.

A really lovely welcome from front of house on my arrival. Stay was fab and breakfast ditto. Room was comfy and well appointed. Lots of plug points which is a welcome addition in an overnight hotel stay. Relaxed atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoyed my solo stay. Thank you so much.

Had a fantastic day at the Spa, from arrival we were treated exceedingly well. Spent the morning trying out all the spa amenities, had an excellent lunch at 12:30. After lunch back to the spa and mainly relaxing till our appointment for treatments at 3:30pm. My wife Linda had the 60 minutes top to toe treatment which was a body scrub and facial expertly carried out by Chelsea. I had a 60 minute deep massage to my back, shoulders and carried out by Millie who worked wonder on my back, neck and shoulders. This was the highlight of our day thank you to them and all the other staff we met yesterday the 30th September.
