We stayed at the Forest Lodge for two nights and were very impressed. The communication when booking was prompt and helpful, all of the staff we encountered were attentive and friendly, the room was delightful (we're thinking of copying it!) with a nice view of trees and immaculately clean. The food was excellent and we had dinner in the bar...

Stayed one night with 2 adults and 2 kids. No family room available so we were offered 2 rooms at family rate. We were in an annexe outside that housed 3 rooms but 1 was empty when we stayed so we had the whole annexe to ourselves. Can't complain... the rooms were nice and modern. One bigger than the other....

Stayed in a family room, ample space and in very good condition. My two boys loved the fact they had their own room with a tv and tea and coffee facility. Ate in the pub in the evening, nice atmosphere and again great food and service. Breakfast was again good in the morning. I would definitely recommend it.

Had lunch here on our way to center parcs, everything was perfect from location, lovely cosy interior, gorgeous food and perfect service from the two lovely ladies working there. Thanks, made a great start to our holiday.

We ate here for a family birthday and as we were a large party, booked a few adjacent tables at the end of the restaurant area. The car park is conveniently located round the back and the Forest Lodge itself is easily found, just off the road between the crossroads and the road to the Sherwood Forest visitor centre. We...

Met up with 3 friends who share January birthdays yesterday for lunch. Warm welcome from staff, owner saw me heading for entrance with a friend with mobility problems and ran round to hold the door open. Table was next to real log fire- bliss! One fiend opted for mushroom special starter which she deemed 'superb'. All us opted for fish...

Perfectly placed for visiting Sherwood Forest and it's Visitor's Centre, this series of old buildings and newer additions go to make The Forest Lodge Hotel. They have managed to fit the bedrooms into the upstairs (and outside ground floor) but access is not easy. Check-In is fine but if a pal of mine hadn't helped carry my luggage I would...

Thank you for your review. The Forest Lodge is indeed an inn, built in 1770, and has all the characteristics of such a property. As an inn, it is rated to 4 stars by the AA. In terms of access to the rooms in the main building, there is a staircase leading up to them which some people with limited...

Stayed at the Forest Lodge for 2 nights while at a family wedding close by, we normally go for a large chain hotel but due to location this wasn't an option, we were pleasantly surprised, ample car park, checked in very late one Friday and the staff were very helpful, we stayed in a family room which was 2 adjoining...

Well the Jury is out for me . The bars and restaurants are definitely a 4 job . Really special and welcoming with a nice menu that looks really good . The exterior of the building is ,for me, well thought through with a decoration to match and it looks quite spot on . Well our room was ok ....

Thanks for the review. To be clear, The Forest Lodge has been awarded four silver stars in its category as an inn. The stars are awarded by the AA which is an independent organisation. There is no requirement in this category to have a permanently staffed reception. Nevertheless, we do try to have somebody at the reception desk as often...

Here for the first time for dinner with colleagues, based on a recommendation. The pub is quite small and tables quite close together in the bar,and I don't like sitting on stools when eating out for dinner, but this furniture gripe is a minor point, in what was a great experience. Service was good, food was very good with some interesting...

Thanks for the kind review. Our pub has just been voted one of the cosiest in the UK by a national Sunday newspaper so I make no apologies for its cosy layout! However, December is our busiest month of the year so it is always advisable to book in advance if one wants a particular table.
