The Cosener's House

The Cosener’s House occupies a picturesque Thames-side position in the grounds of the medieval Abbey of Abingdon, 8 miles from Oxford. It takes its name from the Cuisinier or Kitchener (the official responsible for providing food for the Abbey). The older part of the present building is the central portion which dates from the mid-eighteenth century. These days the Cosener's House is a wonderful retreat to which we invite you to stay overnight in one of the comfortable rooms or make use of the meeting rooms and catering facility. There are 50 bedrooms, 5 meeting rooms, bar and spacious dining room with views of the gardens and the Thames.

An old building with much character and extensive grounds, but remember this is an active conference centre. Food has always been very good and the staff extremely accommodating. Rooms are varied and the most recent stay in the stable block was comfortable but to conference

Ok what one needs to know is that this is not a luxury hotel but it is reflected in the price of the rooms. I was staying for one night in a single room. It was a bit like a student study room. Very comfortable single bed. Small bathroom and the shower is really small (if you

Came here with my sister who was interviewing in a town nearby. Negatives: Signage was poor so it wasn't initially clear where we were supposed to go. Staff were not very helpful either. Our room was absolutely boiling and our window was broken, so we had to prop it open

Lovely hotel tucked away but close to Abingdon. Characteristic but modern rooms. Great breakfast served in a conservatory. Lovely views of the river. Good value. Staff helpful. Overall very good and hope to return.

I do not recall there being a pool but it does have nice gardens and is right on the Thames. There is a little lido a short walk from the hotel on the green in front of the river, but I think this may be more for children

Sorry I do not know. However the town is 2 minutes walk away so I'm sure there must be a bus service which would take you into Oxford town centre
