A charming, quiet little village, with this lovely pub on the green. The management and staff could not have done more to make our stay a memorable one. We were a group of four couples, and the co-location of our rooms at the rear accommodation building was perfect, with a courtyard just outside.to enjoy an evening drink in the setting...

Dear John A, Thank you for taking the time to leave your wonderful feedback, it was a real pleasure looking after such a great group of friends. Dear Audrey S, Thank you for taking the time to leave your wonderful feedback, especially for the positive comments regarding the delicious food/breakfasts, handmade toiletries and beautiful bedding. There is a light on the stairs - I will ensure staff point this out to arriving guests in future. warm regards - Rob, GM

We had excellent lamb and fish main courses and felt that both portions were small for the price. Delicious but not enough food on the plate. The service was efficient but not especially friendly. The front bar area has pleasnt vibe while the main dining room isn't as characterful. The ice cream was some of the best I've had and...

Dear rodasta, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, and for the positive comments regarding the delicious food and our fantastic home-made ice cream. We do change our menu very regularly, but as I write today, our average main course price over a choice of 10 dishes is £15.15 which I feel is very competitive for the...

I spent two nights here as part of a packaged, self-guided walking tour, and was very happy with the place. I had a room above the pub, in the oldest part of the building. The room was spacious, well-supplied, and comfortable. The corridors leading to it, however, have some of the lowest beams I've ever encountered. I felt like I...

Dear jgromit, Thank you for taking the time to write such a well constructed review. Your comments regarding our excellent food have been passed on to the kitchen team and greatly received. I take on board your comment regarding the skinny chips - we do find that the vast majority of our regulars prefer these to 'fat' homemade chips -...

We stayed for three nights and had two restaurant meals as well as breakfasts. The accommodation was comfortable with a king bed and well equipped en suite bathroom. The food was better than average pub restaurant.

Quaint, charming, lovely location, but if you are tall, you're gong to bash your head on the extremely low passages and bedroom ceilings. Probably the most "authentic" pub we stayed at in a recent trip to England, the food and beer were fabulous, and the Bantam rooster and hen that have the run of the grounds are adorable.

Dear Lisa612013, Many thanks for your wonderful review - we certainly agree that we have managed kept the authentic heart of this 16th Century pub intact, whilst so many others around us are being over re-furbished. The courtyard rooms have a more modern layout with more head room for you to consider on your next visit! warm regards - Rob,...
