Lovely downstairs room, beautifully done up and dog friendly. Staff really customer focused. My only comments relate to the meals. Breakfast had whole apples, oranges and bananas for the fresh fruit. How unappetising ..... what would it take to have some fresh blueberries or a fruit compte, and maybe some raisins. That and semi skimmed milk as well as full... More

We arrived weary travellers after a long walk to a warm, friendly welcome. Gabriel and the team provided excellent and very attentive service. The room was dog friendly, clean and immaculately presented. We enjoyed a great meal in the pub restaurant and they even made us sandwiches for the next day as we would be leaving before breakfast was served.... More

It was quite hard to find a nice place that could take children, granny & the dog - and the Star at Sparsholt saved the day! We booked a 2 night mini-break - children & granny upstairs in the two room suite and a dog friendly double room downstairs. The pub has been re-done and has lovely bedrooms, it is... More

Very tasty excellent cuisine! Attentive staff! Beautiful interior! The dining room is lovely and peaceful! It's got everything really and shame it's just not busier but I guess it's slightly out of the way which indeed makes it a bit of a hidden gem :)

I was made to feel welcome, and although I didn't have food, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the atmosphere good. It was helped by my watching Leicester City beat Southampton on the Premiership winning run in.

We booked a 2 night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary and are so glad we chose this place. The location was very quiet and peaceful and the accommodation was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We ate both nights in the pub and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Have to particularly commend the lovely young staff couple, Gabriel... More

We love this pub. We live in the village and enjoy going for a meal when we can get away from the children! The food is always superb. There is an excellent wine list. One of my favourite dishes on the menu is the wonderful sticky toffee pudding soufflé. All the flavour of a sticky toffee pudding but light and... More

This is a little gem of a place. We stayed 2 nights and we honestly can't wait to come back - and it's a long way for us as we live on the other side of the world - New Zealand. From the moment we turned up and the lovely young lady helped us to our room with our very... More

We found this place while looking for a stay in Wantage. It is actually 3-4 miles outside of the town center in a very quiet village. The pub is tastefully restored and the accommodations in the renovated barn were excellent, especially in "the Presidential suite." The service was extremely attentive, especially by Gabriel and Sonja, and a young Czech lady.... More

Such a lovely looking country pub, refurbished in a very attractive style, the rooms are fairly compact but well decorated and very clean and comfortable. The Food at breakfast was amazing, served in the pubs relaxed restaurant. Staff were friendly and the setting was stunning! Would definitely stay again.

Thank Anna S
