We had a table booked for 6, we turned up a bit before to sit and have a drink before we sat down for food which was fine. We sat down at out table at 7.30 as planned, it took until 8.30 to get our food! The pizzas were distictaly average with minimal toppings and looking a bit anemic! The medium rare steak was over done, the burgers (one was the chicken, one the steak) were dry and over cooked. The fish and chips were good. We couldn't bear the wait for puddings so we paid and went. We joined for a birthday celebration which turned into a disappointing evening. Two young ladies were predominantly looking after the tables in the restaurant and working hard while the other front of house members hid around the corner! One of them commented that they were closing in 3 days anyway so he didn't really care. All in all a disappointment.

Travelling around the Cotswolds area this was one of three hotels in which we stayed and were so glad we chose it. The staff were excellent. Mike, the general manager, had his finger on the pulse of the restaurant and bar. Our room was delightful and spacious and we much appreciated the upgrade. If you were celebrating something special this large room with it’s four poster bed where contemporary meets chic, is well worth booking. The location of the hotel is perfect on the Main Street of the town. Breakfast was phenomenal and Paul was quietly efficient. Full marks for service. This particular company have a very varied and wide ranging breakfast menu which is served to a high standard and at the Blue Boar it was a highlight. Evening meals were also excellent and despite the restrictions due to the dreaded COVID-19, they coped remarkably well. The Blue Boar makes for a great staycation.

Long weekend break at the Blue Boar Witney. Lovely pub, great food, great location. Car parking is an issue, but street parking close by, though need to be lucky to get a space. Nicely decorated rooms.

Nice enough place to pop in for a drink, being local. My one tip for the person in charge would be, seeing as there is no bar service, please ask the girls behind the bar to actually have a look and see if anyone would like service as opposed to us customers say there trying to get their attention. Twice in 30 minutes I sat there in an almost deserted pub waiting for one of the 3 people behind the bar to bother to look in the direction of the paying guests. Poor service around.

Had a 4 night stay in the family room. Breakfast was an extensive menu - all good! Had 1 meal at the blue boar - pizza cooked in their pizza oven. Authentic and good quality. Room was on the top floor - clean and comfortable. No parking at the blue boar which resulted in 1 parking ticket at the waitrose car park. Good gastro pub with helpful and friendly staff - would recommend. Thank you blue boar.
