Travelodge Oswestry is appreciated by many for its convenient location and has become a go-to for guests seeking a quiet stay with accessible provisions, resulting in repeat visits. While the hotel's cleanliness and comfortable bedding are generally commended, some travelers have experienced minor issues. The service receives positive feedback for the staff's friendliness and efficiency, despite some criticisms regarding WiFi and other services. However, guests have voiced dissatisfaction with the value, pointing out steep pet fees and additional charges. The atmosphere is often described as needing an update, and while the amenities meet the basic needs, including pet-friendliness and nearby dining, the rooms themselves are subject to mixed reviews, with some noting issues with temperature, cleanliness, and outdated decor.

I've stayed at this particular Travelodge multiple times now with my dog when we are working in the local area. We've always had a good night's sleep, one little niggle is temperature control in the rooms can be difficult especially in Summer, we had to bring our own fans in. The rooms are basic but clean & comfortable with plenty of space. Outside there is plenty of grassy areas for dogs to be exercised & toileted. Overall very quiet and never had any issues. The recent renovations were definitely noticed on our latest visit, as soon as we stepped through the door, it looks great and the carpark has also been redone so no more horrendous pot holes! Friendly welcome upon arrival, check in & out always very quick and easy. Price per pet is quite steep compared to other places but very appreciative that we can bring our dog in with us. WiFi also comes at an extra cost and I have found that the speed is actually better when just using mobile data so if you have plenty of that, the wifi may not be worth paying for.

Stayed here just over a year ago and the difference is great. It’s so nice to see the car park resurfaced and the place has been done up nicely. I find this location to have quiet rooms where you can’t hear others once inside your room. It’s clean and the staff are friendly when you see them. Look forward to future stays.

Just returned from a 3 night stay here. We stayed in room 01 as it is on the ground floor and is suitable for a wheelchair. Room was clean but in need of refurbishment. The bathroom is spacious and the grab rails make it easy for a disabled guest to use the bath which also has a shower. Staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a vending machine in the lobby for snacks and drinks, also a burger king directly opposite. Plenty of other places to eat and drink on the other side of the roundabout and a couple of minutes drive from Oswestry town centre. Ideally situated for exploring shopshire and North Wales. The only negative was the amount of litter in the carpark each morning, which included glass bottles next to our car. Would stay here again if we visit the area.

Utterly awful hotel. If you want the full 1980's experience then stay here. It is so dated. I quite liked the water feature at the top of the stairs, complete with buckets to collect the dripping water.

The mattress on the bed was uncomfortable.

The bathroom was dangerous, with the anti slip in the bath being worn away and the shower head being far too low.

No breakfast available in the hotel, a Burger King, a Greggs and others are available on site, but the car park and pavements are in a poor state of repair.

I hope the next time I see this hotel is being demolished on an episode of Scrap Kings.

A definite avoid.

I stayed for one night at the Travelodge in Oswestry.
The premises appeared to be in a poor condition, generally felt run-down and fatigued. The carpet in the entrance lobby was worn, discoloured and had a dirty appearance, and the décor certainly needed refreshing.
Nonetheless I expected the room I booked to be in better condition. It was not. A pungent smell emanated from the room when I entered (through a door that was propped open by a coat hanger, presumably to try and rid the room of the smell). I complained to the receptionist who changed my room.
The second room at least did not smell, but the TV was faulty, causing the receptionist to attend and fiddle with the cables to gain a picture. However, upon use the volume control on the remote did not work and the TV was barely audible. At this point, and after a very long drive I gave up and went to bed, glad that I had brought my radio at least.
In the morning I took a shower only to find there was no soap in the dispenser, an intensely annoying and very basic fault of housekeeping. Low water pressure, bathroom sink was blocked to the point it hardly drained, I could go on but I’m sure you'll realise by now that this hotel is barely adequate for purpose.
How they can warrant a ÂŁ60+ charge for this appalling level of service is beyond me. I truly wish I had paid another ten pounds and stayed at the Premier Inn along the road.

Quick over night stay, checked in late, was greated by a cheerful night staff member. The room was spot on, though the refresh to the hotel seems to be in progress with new carpets etc. my room was still in the dated stage, Ive seen travelodge's after the refreshes, it makes the world of diferance and compliments the great staff, who do their best to make you feel at home.
The travelodge is situated away from the main roads so no trafic noise, my nights stay was quiet and refreshing as I had to be up early to continue my journey.
Upon check out the same night Staff, Meg greated me with a smile.
A good start to the day, Many Thanks.
There is a service station nearby a KFC and Mcdoogles.

. The Oswestry Travelodge was clean and well maintained but situated in an unpleasant and uncared for area. It is not well placed for those without cars. It is a mile and a half from the town centre with no bus service. The staff were caring and courteous. The rail strikes on 13th and 16th December meant we had to book an extra night a day earlier and leave a day earlier. The extra night cost was twice the rate we paid for the other nights and no compensation was offered.

Solely used as an overnight stop off as we journeyed from Scotland to Wales. We have used this hotel for many years and it hasn’t been modernised or upgraded in any way. The car park is a poor first impression, poorly lit, full of potholes and litter/debris. The room was basic, quite clean and for what we paid was “ok”. These places I feel are quite impersonal as you just drop the keys off at the end of your stay, no reception staff to speak to unless you beckon them from behind their work station/office.
Had we paid more money I would have been extremely disappointed but as we were facing a long trip we were just thankful to sleep. The Burger King was great, even though it was fast food and no other options available here we were pleased with how fresh the food was. Overall, a good place to get your head down but not any way luxurious!

We had to switch rooms as the first room we were given was unclean, the bath was dirty and there was no hand wash. The second room we were given, there was a smell of weed in the room. The hot water was not working and I needed a shower so I had to have a cold shower, the holder for the shower gel on the wall kept falling off and under it was filthy.
To top off the unfortunate experience we had, we had paid for two breakfasts and was only given one as they had ran out.
The staff were lovely but was just very unfortunate at the amount of things wrong that we experienced.
