Stayed at The Bear Inn on 2nd Feb 2017 for a visit to Wincanton Racecourse. We were made very welcome on arrival and were shown to our room which was clean & bright. OK, if I was trying to be critical, the decor was a tad dated, but it is a pub with rooms and this was all part of its...

Food was ok, friendly staff, lot of locals in having a drink at the bar. Sounded like the old days. Price not bad but the menu was a bit boring but the entertainment from the locals was worth paying for

I was traveling using points on Virgin Atlantic. The day I wanted to travel was sold out, so I needed to travel a day earlier. I needed a hotel and a place to go. I decided to look up old friends in the small town of Wincanton. I'd been there before and decided this was a good place to return....

Pleasant staff. Awful beer. Awful room, decor old, room unclean, towels smelt, bedding dated to be polite, stained sheets. Noisy nightclub under room. Didn't dare stay for breakfast. Was the only room left in the town so had no other choice.

I've been visiting the bear on and off for eight years. The changes made to put the pool table in the front bar area have really detracted from what was a nice character pub in wincanton. I hope it works out, but it puts me off going in there now sadly. At least they still have the fire going in...

I stayed at the Bear back in June of 2012. I'm sorry for not posting these photos earlier. The photo on Tripadvisor is of another property all together. This is a charming inn with lovely owners. I found the town quiet. I was here visiting friends on my way to a Jasper Fforde convention in Swindon. I will be making...

We stayed here on Saturday after a cracking day at Wincanton races. The welcome we had on arrival was nice, the pub was busy and had a good selection of food and drinks with the rooms being just what we expected. Sunday morning and what a good breakfast, could'nt ask for more. What more can I say. If you want...

I have been coming to the Bear for many years, I know Jo and Ian well and promised I would write a review. This is very much a traditional english pub, listed building. Lrge car park and combnation of Lounge and bar area, with a large hall (sweetman) at the back, usually packed with discworld fans as the accomodating owners...
