Set in an idyllic picture postcard location, this wonderful old Inn ticks all the right boxes. Beautiful bedroom, comfortable bed, thoughtful extras, great shower, spotlessly clean. Cosy bar, restaurant and breakfast room where we were served superb breakfasts with homemade bread, croissants and a proper full English! Creative dinners prepared by a chef who knows how to fill and satisfy...

I stayed here for 1 night - very friendly welcome. An excellent selection of well kept beers and ok wine list. Food is generous and very tasty. Breakfast was excellent and set us all up for a very wet Exmoor day!

As regular visitors to Exmoor we always try to pay a visit to the Oak so popped in for lunch. As always,we received a warm welcome from Mark and the locals, whilst enjoying our favourite lunch of Roast Beef served in a homemade roll all washed down with a well kept pint of Exmoor Gold. Just one question Mark...where is...

Stayed for 2 nights in January of this year. The Royal Oak has welcoming hosts and a cosy atmosphere with attentive service. We had a comfortable double room, delicious meals made with local produce and a bar with a fire to relax near. Toilets are spotless. Would love to visit again. It's a beautiful spot in Exmoor, right by a...

This was my Wife's Birthday Surprise, with 6 of our best friends and relatives joining us for a weekend on Exmoor. The hotel is very comfortable, with Mark and Sally being very accommodating with our sometimes demanding group of celebrators. Our host rose to the occasion, keeping the secret. The rooms, food and service were excellent. Our last stay was...

My parents recently celebrated their Golden Wedding at the Royal Oak. We arrived on Saturday afternoon, checked in to our four poster room which was beautifully decorated, every need was catered for. Mark & Sally were tremendous hosts, we had the drawing room for the whole evening. Everyone gathered for pre dinner drinks and canapes, before sitting down to a...

We had another stay here last week just for one night this time. Although just a short stay it was really enjoyable. Beautiful, comfortable, spotlessly clean room, delicious evening meal in the bar and breakfast. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and it is really dog friendly too. Looking forward to a longer stay later in the year.

We had 2 dinners here both were excellent. For mains we had the steak pie (almost too much), which is how pies should be made, the baked Cod, delicious and then on night 2 the Lamb rump and Skate wing, superb. Good house wine and so nice to have a meal and not feel as if you have paid over...

When we arrived the landlord helpfully informed us that if we required food there would be a 40 minute wait, and may not be able to fit us in as he was fully booked. How refreshing to be informed of a long wait before you order not wait until one has ordered then be told of tell of a long...
