Beautiful hotel always consistently high standard of service - Staff are warm and friendly and very efficient and the food is always excellent the hotel is easily located and creates a relaxing stay for both business and pleasure
I booked an elegant country escape in a superior double room as a surprise for my partners 30th birthday. Before I booked, I phoned the hotel to ask for the latest menu which was emailed to me promptly. I asked a couple of questions which again, had a very quick response. Upon arrival, we were greeted by some friendly staff who checked us in and directed to our room. Our room was spacious, well decorated and furnished. My partner especially loved how big the bed was. This is where I told him what our nights stay included. We got a cream tea and glass of Prosecco on arrival. A three course meal with a house bottle of wine. A nights stays and breakfast in the morning!! A total bargain for what I paid. We could not fault the food off our menu. It was delicious, we did not have to wait long and was served in the conservatory, which during the day, had absolutely beautiful views. We also got to meet the owner of the hotel and have a chat with him, where he told us a bit more information about the hotel and how many rooms there were. He also made us a recommendation for breakfast in the morning. We got a complimentary glass of Prosecco each at dinner also! A truly wonderful dine and stay and I cannot fault Dovecliff at all! I will be recommending the hotel where ever I can and we will return in the future. …
A STUNNING HOTEL, IN A BEAUTIFUL SETTING, TOP CLASS STAFF PROVIDING A PERFECT STAY. We stayed on the night of the 7th of Jan. I booked this hotel for my partners birthday even though its only up the road from where we live (I booked it back in October and believe me I got a lot of mocking for booking a hotel just up the road) We had never visited the hotel, though my partner admitted she use to play in the nearby river, as a child, when the building was a private house. I booked direct with the hotel on a country elegance package (3 course dinner, bed, breakfast with a cream tea and a glass of prosecco on arrival). We stayed in the Lord Burton Suite. I could write pages about our stay but I'll try to keep it short. The hotel is a beautiful Edwardian house with a stunning interior having kept a lot of the period features. Our room was stunning with beautiful views of the garden, to the point it brought a tear to her eyes when she walked in. The 6ft wide bed was so, so comfortable it was an effort to drag ourselves out of it in the morning. We ate all our meals in the conservatory which was warm,(even at this time of year, as was all the hotel) and provided peaceful and relaxed place to eat, with views out to the garden. All our meals were perfectly cooked , beautifully presented. We both agreed they were the best meals we've ever had and each mouthfull was a delight to the taste buds. All the staff were warm friendly, welcoming carrying out thier duties to the highest professional standard, and we felt if needed they would go above and beyond to make every guests stay as perfect as possible. I CAN'T PRAISE AND RATE THIS HOTEL HIGH ENOUGH, other than to say within hours of getting home we have booked our second visit for a valentines experience. OUR FAVOURITE HOTEL IS NOW JUST UP THE ROAD.…
Lovely building with large, high ceilings & spacious rooms. Elegant decor. Grounds are very pretty and from our room we had a lovely view of the river through large sash windows. Lots of character. Everything was clean, bed was large and comfortable. The food was well cooked and portion size good. Breakfast was very nice. Service and waiting time for hot cooked meals was efficient and speedy. Good menu. We had a small problem over our booking conditions which affected our charge for dinner. Or booking confirmation through booking.com suggested a set price for dinner which was not on the system of the hotel. However the difference was minimal and in good faith the hotel management honoured the booking confirmation. I have no complaints other than the fire was not slight in the small bar area which would have added to the cosy feel. Good stay.…
Not stayed here before, but will definitely be back! The staff were amazing - friendly, professional, and could not do enough for us. Room was stunning - immaculately clean and some of the best bed linen I've seen in a hotel in a long time! We only did bed and breakfast so I cannot really comment on food other than that - but the breakfast was faultless and perfectly cooked. Excellent value for money and a real find as far as I'm concerned!
Seems only good reviews are published why is this? New Years Eve 2022 was not that good band did not play music you could dance to, limited to one glass of champagne only but food very good will not be returning last year 2021 was much better cost £120 each.
We booked a suite and meal to see the new year in. Check in was easy and the room we had was great. Some of the decor and fittings in the room need refreshing. However you couldn’t mark the hotel down for it as it’s only recently been taken over. The staff are brilliant, friendly and fun. They’re all young, still attentive and happy to help though. The meal was superb, especially the beef which melted in the mouth. The choice of beer maybe slightly limited but there’s a huge range of wines and Gin’s which makes up for this. We had a great band as well as music. Breakfast was really good, the quality of the produce used is testament to how good the meals are. We will not hesitate in returning to Dovecliffe.
Had a 3 course meal from the festive menu, plenty of choices, beautifully cooked and presented. The orangery was lovely and warm, despite it being very cold and breezy outside. Very attentive staff, highly recommend, Thank you to all.
I booked a room as I was attending a wedding, plans changed so I needed to cancel the room, called the hotel to find that my booking had never actually been recorded but my credit card details had been allocated against a room in the name of someone else although they assured me that they do not take credit card details and only take bookings from the organisers of the wedding – incorrect on both counts. Blamed it on a member of staff who no longer worked there – clear lack of training. Luckily I did not turn up expecting a room and looks like I made the correct decision not to stay there. No apology from the hotel, just lots of excuses and trying to justify the situation. Not a hotel I would consider booking, disappointing.
We had a most enjoyable two night stay whilst visiting family nearby over Christmas. The hotel areas were beautifully decorated for the festive season and cosy. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had two breakfasts and one dinner and all were extremely tasty with good choice, and attractively presented. Our bedroom and bathroom were warm, clean and spacious, with large comfortable bed. Unfortunately there was no room safe or heated towel rail in the bathroom. We very much enjoyed a guitarist playing in the bar on Christmas Eve, and we received a small Christmas gift, which was a very nice gesture.
