Staff: excellent Food: excellent Hotel: disappointing/needs updating Wasn't cheap. Rooms didn't have enough lights in. Bathroom falling apart. Corridors smelled musty/like a toilet I regularly stay away for work and choose premier inns as "you know what you're getting" This hotel is very disappointing. The carpark is on the other side of a busy main road. You have to play frogger every morning to get to your car. The room had one light in that wasn't bright enough. Had a desk in a dark corner of the room. No light for that. No light near the door. Bathroom as shabby and not on a good way. Bath panel didn't fit. The mirror was rusty and the silicone was mouldy. It wasn't cheap either. I'm back in the area area next week and not staying at this hotel. Staying at the Hilton for another £30 a night. Take some of the money you charge and update the hotel please …
We were in the area to attend a funeral. The location was ideal and the car park was free. The staff on arrival were very nice and room was clean, food was good the staff in the restaurant were very nice as well, all in all value for money. We would stay again.
Positives - comfy bed, hairdrier, fairly quiet, quick check-in and check-out processes. Negatives to be improved: 1. Hot water in the evening - I had to have a freezing cold shower after work. 2. Do something about the horrible smell in the corridor that was there throughout my stay. 3. Provide more drink sachets for multiple night stays and provide decaffinated sachets - only two coffee sachets in the room for a 2 night stay and no decaffinated. 4. Provide sockets next to the bed to plug in phone chargers and alarm clocks rather than having to get out of bed to reach an alarm. 5. better breakfast cookery - day 1 was a nicely cooked breakfast but on day 2 I received hard poached eggs, dry beans with hardly any sauce and underlooked mushrooms. 6. attentive waiting staff for food - on day one I waited over 30 minutes for the dessert I had pre-ordered and only received it after chasing someone, on day 2 waiting staff audibly discussed with each other how good they were and how little it was appreciated whilst forgetting to put condiments on tables and taking food orders in the opposite order to the order customers came into the restaurant. 7. Ensure heating is switched on before a room is allocated in the winter - I checked in at 19:00 on a cold winter day and as the heating was not on it took hours to heat the room 8. Have a choice of thicker duvet or a second duvet in winter rather than just the option of different pillows - first night was freezing thanks to thin duvet and cold room. 9. Label the hot water and coffee urns at breafast so you know which you are pouring. 10 put breakfast things in consistent places for people staying multiple days to get used to i.e. unlabelled coffe urn was on the left of the hot-water urn on first day of my stay and vice versa the next.…
Although the hotel is quite old and dated it is warm and the beds are good. The adjoined restaurant is appalling. The evening I waited 25mins for my drink which in the end I got up and got myself as the staff were too busy entertaining there friends. Breakfast was a 41 minute wait which was probably the worst I have had in a long time. I know it's December but the pub was empty. People must have been here before so kept away.
Couldn't fault room quality but the bar was disappointing. I've stayed here before and was able to enjoy a really good pint of Marstons pedigree, this time there was not a single English ale to be had.Continental and American lagers in abundance. This was 3 miles from the biggest brewery town in England.First night there was no ice available.Had continental breakfast one morning, this was also very basic
This hotel is set on a very busy main road and we were kept awake by the constant noise of the traffic. There was a very strange musty smell in the corridors and the heating was a radiator so very difficult to control. The only real positive was the comfy bed. The table table next door was dire, it was unclean with stains on the already dirty carpets. Tables were worn and sticky. Breakfast was dried up. We would not stay here again.
Stayed here as needed to be near my bosses house 10 minutes away. The lady on reception who I think was Kerry was very friendly and helpful. Even though the hotel is on a main road it was very quiet barring the neighbouring rooms tv. Don’t know why said neighbours felt the need to slam the door about 10 times either in the space of half an hour but not the hotels fault. Car park is free and across the road but you can park out front if there is space. Yes it is like a rabbit warren with quite a few stairs but I was at the far back of the hotel (room 15) but I was happy to be out of the way. I was given a family room although I was a lone traveller but the space was nice. The room was clean barring a hair I found on the bed and sadly whoever had a shave in the bathroom sink previously hadn’t swilled it away properly. The bathroom did look tired and a bit mouldy but refurbs are not hotels priorities at the moment. Paying the mental cost of living bills are. The bed was comfortable minus the hair when I got in it and when next door kindly switched their tv off I did get a good nights sleep. I would return as it was a good price and a great location for where I needed to be. I didn’t use the pub next door so can’t comment about that.…
Stayed for a night yesterday (25th nov) room was lovely and clean, bed was very comfy, single bed for my toddler was comfy too he slept al night ! Lovely view from our side room ! Had evening meal and breakfast in the pub joined on ! Good choices continental and full English ! Would recommend ! Tv and free wifi !!
Stayed here Saturday 5th November as myself and my partner were going to a family function in Burton so this was the closest for us to where we needed to be. Kerry dealt with us at check-in and was warm and welcoming. Check-in was quick however there was an issue with the system not cutting our key card but Kerry let us into our room and then returned a few minutes later with our key card once all was back up and running. The room itself was small and compact but still had everything we needed, this is an older set up but is still nice and we'll maintained. We had a very good night sleep. Checkout was quick, just drop your key card in the box and then a member of staff appeared suddenly to say good bye... I think she was doing housekeeping and reception at the same time. Talk about multi tasking. All in all a great nights stay and great team. Will definitely stay here again. …
Stayed here on a Saturday evening for a family party just down the road. Free to use car park across the road. Checked in around 6pm. Really friendly member of staff on reception called Kerry. She got us checked in promptly. She was having trouble with the computer but remained calm and sorted us out and got us into out room. Room was a little smaller than I am used to but it was definitely fit for purpose. It was clean and the bed made well. A little note had been left in the room welcoming us with a chocolate treat from our housekeeper Caroline. Slept well and only heard a little noise in the morning, but it was 10am so people were up and about. Checked out just before midday on the Sunday. Member of staff who's name I didn't catch was doing work in the corridor but walked really quickly to the reception area to thank us for staying and wishing us a safe journey. I always think the goodbye is important as its the last memory of your stay. Really really friendly staff!!…
