Not bad for the money at all and with a free breakfast in the morning what more could you ask . We were just stopping by for the night as we were heading to Drayton mannor the next morning - Cheap and cheerful and perfect for what we needed . Plenty of parking as well which is handy Many thanks for having us !
Adequate for a short stay, nothing flash but clean and friendly. Breakfast was top drawer, freshly cooked as per requirements, excellent poached eggs!!! Needs a refurb, very dated decor etc but if you want cheap & cheerful this is the place.
I'm staying here tonight as I'm competing at britains strongest woman tomorow. Have just complained.to whoever is on reception regarding a fire alarm bleeping due to low battery.to be told that someone is coming to fix it tomorrow and I'll just have to put up with it tonight!! The room stinks of stale cigarettes and I don't think it has been cleaned in a long time. Would rather sleep in my car than in this dump!
This last weekend at Grail Court Hotel Burton on Trent UK was disappointing to say the least. Having had trouble with the booking process on line eventually we were sure we had booked a double en suite room with breakfast included for 2 people for 3 nights. On checking in on Friday we were told we had only booked the room for 1 person and it would be another £30 for a second person! Not a good start. The room was very basic but it was clean. Going down to breakfast on the second morning we were told it was the Chef’s day off. The Receptionist was doubling as the Chef. When asked for poached eggs on toast she answered I can only do ‘ordinary’ eggs. ‘Ordinary’ being fried. The third morning, same scenario, Chef’s day off, Receptionist cooking. When asked for mushrooms and bacon she answered OK but I don’t have any mushrooms because Chef forgot to buy some yesterday. ???I thought yesterday and today were Chef’s day off. She also told me to ‘cook’ my own toast !! When I went to do this there were 2 loaves of sliced bread, each in a plastic bag. There were no tongs to get a slice out, meaning anyone in that dining room who wanted bread out of those bags were putting bare hands in and handling the bread!!! Off putting would you say??? When the Receptionist asked if we wanted hot food she did so in a tone that indicated she was hoping we were going to say No. All in all it was a very unsatisfactory stay and I am struggling to award even 1 star. Basic and a bit old fashioned but had a comfortable and peaceful stay. Nice breakfast, polite staff, great location (20 min drive to Download and Bloodstock festivals) and you are at the centre of Burton which has all the big retailers. The car park is safe and secure, even if it is a bellyache to get in. Needs a bit of a revamp but not a bad stay. Nice new shower, the toilet was placed awkwardly between the wall and shower but whatever. included a desk, tea making facilities, TV and storage. You may see on google it says this place is haunted but I did not notice any ghouls. There was that weird man in fancy dress as a Tudor royal but he went when I turned the lights on. Silly man (disclaimer: that is a joke). I feel even at a reduced rate it cost more than it was worth but not bad at all.…
It is city centre with free parking and that is how it snagged us. It is filthy from top to bottom and very much in need of a thorough deep clean in ancillary rooms and bedrooms. Poo in the toilet of our room, tv didnt work, cobwebs and overall dinghy standard. We were moved to a worse room after complaining; awful shower complete with mold and damp black patches, infernal noise from the main road in spite of us asking for a quiet room. Breakfast was deplorable. Interrogated as to why we had sat where we had despite any staff to show us to our correct table and everything swimming in grease and liquids? Low quality fatty bacon and sausage despite the menu offering sausages (S). Returned to find the room hadn't been serviced and dirty cups left in sink. Only 1 towel for a double room. Left the next day despite being booked in for 2 nights. Staff absent and hotel in lock down, no reception no bar no nothing except our happiness to have left. Absolutly shocking place, more like the Grail Court Out than Camelot. knights of the round table should keep on riding and not spend any nights here. Needs more than a modern day Merlin to rectify this dump. Should be more AvalonGone.…
Booked for one night not expecting much after reading some reviews but have to say we would stay here again. It is ideally located in the town centre and although the room was a bit of a mixture of old furniture the bed was really comfy and it was clean which is all I bother about. The staff were extremely friendly and the restaurant food was really nice and plenty of it, that goes for the breakfast too.
The hotel was closed when we arrived and we had to telephone to be let in. Room was quite small and the en-suite, which had been added, had no room to manoeuvre. To be fair the shower was good. The hotel was closed with nobody available once we had been shown our room. The facilities were basic, the bed was rickety, not enough tea, coffee and sugar. The room was not cleaned very well and the little sofa had cigarette burns on it. The room was road facing and was very noisy due to single glazing and old wooden sash windows. Breakfast was included but we decided to give it a miss.
We have stayed here a few times over the years and agree it’s a bit dated and requires updating. This has been the worst of those stays due to the farce of a breakfast service. 1 toaster for all to use Ran out of butter and took about ten mins to replace so toast was cold Breakfast order taken then took 35 mins to be served whilst other guests that ordered after us had theirs before us Tried a couple of mouthfuls of the full English and had to leave it as it was so bad It tasted like it had been deep fried in lard absolutely disgusting
after I booked the hotel , I read the reviews , most of them very negative !! , now very worried what to expect when got there ? . The hotel is in the centre of the town , got there by car & sat nav To get into car park , very tight , but once inside room for parking Inside hotel , cool fitting fixtures like knights in ,amour.,, like a castle , it was clean & tidy in bar area Staff very welcoming , friendly , polite ,The room .had a , window , which you could open , bathroom , shower only again clean , hot water . The room needed bit of a update , little dull , not enough power points ! Turn right out of hotel , takes you train station , left takes you into the town cenre Breakfast is taken in the bar area , tea/coffee ,f juice , cooked breakfast to order , food hot , good portion Found out afterwards , hotel is meant to be hunted ??…
