What a beautiful hotel, gorgeous settings outside and a great bar as a social area. Rooms were beautiful and breakfast was awesome :-) The staff were so helpful and friendly. The var was open till all hours.
Honestly amazing. We stayed for one of the family Xmas sleepovers and it was perfect. Lady on reception lovely and friendly and made a fuss of my son. He was given a letter to Santa to write and there was a little post box to put it in. Lovely touch that he had a reply posted under the door ready for him when he woke the next morning. We had a drink in the bar and watched the entertainment. Drink service super slow but entertainment was good and drinks reasonably priced. Room was lovely - clean, warm and cozy as it was freezing out. Breakfast lovely in the morning too. Just missing fried eggs. Had characters wandering round speaking to the kids. Decorated beautifully for the kids. Ready to book for next year already!
We visited the park and Hotel as part of the Santa / Christmas experience. For several years we have chosen to go to Alton Towers for their Christmas experience but couldn’t justify their extra costs this year. We weren’t sure what to expect from Drayton Manor but were pleasantly surprised. Getting to the hotel is simple and the hotel looked great and festive, booking in was an easy experience but there did seem to be a lot of information to be told and try to remember. The themed Viking room was brilliant and the children loved all the Thomas features around the hotel. A highlight of the stay was a Christmas treasure hunt (or elf hunt) around the hotel. The children loved it and had a great soft toy elf as a gift at the end. I give 5 out of 5 as we were pleasantly surprised, but the restaurant and evening entertainment were slightly underwhelming and more aligned to the price. The booking of the experience was a little complicated as we had to book dinner, breakfast and Santa grotto in different ways (emails, online etc) and I wasn’t confident I had everything sorted. The park experience was only dampened by the rain so can’t complain there either. All in all, 5 out of 5 for overall value for money. We will recommend and have already planned to be visiting again. A special mention to Phil who checked us in and I remember handled the complexity of it all very well, friendly and professional. As it happens, our eldest son left his comfort blanket within his bed which we missed when packing. The hotel were able to find it and kept it until we contacted them it turned out it was Phil who went above and beyond to post the blanket back to us - thank you…
We booked the Christmas stay and play for 23rd Dec, 4 adults, 4 children ages 3 to 15. Our whole experience from start to finish was absolutely brilliant. We've stayed here before and in the alton towers hotels as well. Always found alton towers hotels underwhelming as hotels themselves with poor service and generally over subscribed. Drayton manor hotel is the opposite! It is a lovely 4 star hotel, yes there are things for the children to do but it doesn't detract from the high standards of the hotel, nice bar area and restaurant. The welcome from the receptionists was absolutely spot on, quick, efficient and friendly with little extra freebies thrown in such as an elf hunt and a letter to santa that got a reply overnight. We booked a family room with 2 double beds. It was plenty big enough for a 1 night stay, the shower was great, better than our shower at home! There was an entertainer on in the bar in the evening for the children, this was a great pre-dinner treat for the children, luckily the adults had alcohol as an incentive to stay as it was rather noisy! But all good fun. This was better than our stay a few years ago where you had to go and find the kids entertainment in a seperate area of the hotel, being in the bar means less planning and effort involved which means we are more likely to take part! The food in the hotel in the evening was supurb and the service again was excellent. Breakfast was a little bit lacking, both in service and delivery, but it was Christmas Eve so I'll make allowances for it. The day out at the theme park itself on 23rd Dec (you can choose arrival or departure day) was great despite the continuous rain. Hot drinks refillable at £7.50 were our bargain of the day as we kept going to various cafes to defrost and dry out a bit! All the indoor areas were very well heated and nowhere was very busy, maybe people were put off by the rain. The Santa experience was one of the best we have been to. I won't go into details as don't want to spoil the surprise for future guests but there was no queuing and it was well organised. Decorating gingerbread was a bit chaotic but it gave us a reason to get the train down to that end of the park and walk back up through the zoo. Some of the bigger rides were also open. If you have children aged 6 and under you have to go to Thomasland at least once. There are so many rides that the children and adults can go on together. Much better than cbeebies land at alton towers in my opinion, we went last Christmas and the rides were spread out, huge queues, many closed and restrictive as to who could go on what. Thomasland they are all very inclusive, all close together and we didn't queue for anything all day. We ate lunch in the pizza and pasta place near the zoo, expensive for what you get as these places are but it was hot and tasty. We also had crazy golf and included in our tickets but we didn't get round to doing this. All in all an amazing experience, half the price of alton towers Christmas stay and play and in our opinion a much better experience..... We will be back! …
Great comfy beds . The Thomas Themed room was amazing . Food fantastic , drinks BERY expensive . Evening entertainment was acceptable . Reception staff fantastic as were the little touches like Santa letters , elf search , Thomas room packs
Our second stay at the Drayton Manor Hotel, this time for Christmas trip to Thomas Land. The hotel is excellent for families with small children, comfortable beds and cot provided and a nice bathroom. The children love exploring the hotel to find all the Thomas trains, it was also decorated absolutely beautifully for Christmas. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the girl on reception when we arrived (sorry didn't catch her name). The postbox for letters to Santa was a lovely touch and such a delight to receive a reply under the door in the morning! Made it feel like a very special Christmas trip. Excellent to get early entry into the park in the morning as a hotel guest. Overall a good deal with the park tickets included. Breakfast was plentiful with excellent choice. Only complaint was the speed and quite inattentive service at dinner, the food was nice however it took a very long time, nearly an hour to arrive, not ideal with two small and tired children. Apart from that though another lovely stay, look forward to hopefully returning again soon :-)…
Children loved letter from Santa, treasure trail to find the elf and children’s entertainment in the evening. They even had Viking helmets in the room. Early access to Theme park in the morning was a bonus as was a priority pass for the most popular ride of choice.
We had an amazing time at Thomasland and the hotel. The hotel was themed brilliantly and Sarah on the desk so super helpful and lovely with my two young boys. We paid £40 to upgrade to a Viking room, which was great, had the bunk beds with dvd players, with dvds to hire from the desk. The boys were sent off on a hunt all around the hotel looking for clues to find an elf, and we’re given their own elves as prizes! They children go little stationery packs and Viking hats too in the room. The Thomas goody bags were great as always, especially loved the light up toothbrushes! The boys posted a letter to Father Christmas that night and we’re delighted to find a letter back from him when they woke up in the morning, such a wonderful touch! The food was really good and came out very quickly! Good service too. The evening entertainment was great, my 6 year old loved the magic and silliness! Our only note is that the mattresses were quite firm, which wasn’t to our usual taste so we didn’t sleep amazingly, but it’s not enough to stop us giving the stay a great review!…
Our room was spotlessly clean and spacious. The bed was a bit uncomfortable which was a shame as otherwise it was a good room for families and couples. The Check in staff were extrememly helpful and welcoming and the atmosphere overall was really nice. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment because the hotel had completely run out of orange juice and butter (which is pretty basic) and they were slow to replenish bread and sausages, which at £166 a night you wouldn't expect. We stayed as 2 adults as we were attending a party nearby, but would like to return with our train obsessed little boy as it was a magical place for Thomas fans. However I would say that had we had our 2 year old with us we would have found breakfast more stressful due to the lack of availability and wait on certain items. Overall though a good stay and perhaps they just had a rush on breakfast that day. Would recommend as the proximity to the park looked excellent too.…
Absolutely amazing from beginning to end. This was our second visit (first Santa sleepover) and we will definitely be returning! All the staff were great, Very welcoming receptionists that made check in very easy. Staff in the bars and restaurant were all very helpful and the entertainment staff were great too. The hotel is so warm and cosy, rooms are very clean and spacious. The food in the hotel was really lovely -we had an evening meal and breakfast. The attractions that were open on the theme park were all great. Santas grotto was very well planned out and very magical for our young children. We had a perfect stay and it’s awesome for the price too. Thank you so much 😊
