I stayed at this hotel on Saturday with my daughter. The place is so run down and needs a complete overhaul. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. However, they appeared to be very short staffed. On Sunday morning one person was waiting on tables; clearing up and manning reception. It was cheap to stay here but I would never... More

Good things about this hotel. The food is excellent, and although the place is shabby, it's a lovely old building and would cost a fortune just to keep together so we should be grateful we still have it. Also the location is the most beautiful street in South Tyneside and I love history so it was fun and interesting. The... More

Had the mis fortune of having been booked into this disgusting hotel really should not be on the market, scaffolding all over the building, horrible smell as soon as entering the premises, we asked for a ground floor room she opened the room she was giving us and there was a couple in the room already really embarrassing, shown to... I looked at the site and thought the pictures of the room shown and the exterior of the property made the hotel look quite inviting...how wrong I was. Firstly I booked a single room and was given a converted broom cupboard!!! The room was tiny and the furniture and decor tired. There was no flair, the walls were scuffed by... More

The room was fine, but the duvets and pillows were lumpy and the bed uncomfortable. The corridors could do with decorating. The place could do with some general maintenance, the sink was cracked, the bedroom door hard to lock. The grouting in the bathroom was dirty. Beware the out of date food at breakfast, particularly the yoghurts and pastries. We... More

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. We arrived at the front door only to be told we had to,park around the back...easier said than done, we had to find it first. We were shown to our room on the first floor, it was clean & warm with a comfortable bed but very tired. We ate there both nights... More

Stayed here a few years ago and loved it. Now it is a B&B for contractors. Who fill the carpark with their vans and wake you up at the unearthly hour of 6am. Banging doors etc. They then get in their vans not too quietly at 6.30. Worst night I have had in ages. Heating pipes rattled and knocked and... More

We were dropping off the in-laws for their Baltic Cruise and my father in law got it in his head the ship was leaving from South Shields. While we rather like the town of Tynemouth we decided to spend the night the south side of the river at South Shields. Of course when the paperwork was checked they were actually... More

Stayed there with my wife for one night. Lovely late 16 century building with delightful staff, we got a lovely welcome from a lovely lady and were given a suite upgrade. Room was fine with a spacious enough bathroom. Breakfast was superb. Not wanting to be indelicate, but the toilet flush was week and there was no toilet brush. So... More
