We have stayed in several Premier Inns and many similar businesses but this one, Newcastle Washington will take some beating. It is located on Emerson Road just off the A1(M) junction 34 very handy for visiting the Angel of the North, Beamish Museum and Newcastle to name but a few. The accommodation side is a separate business to the carvery across the car park.
From our initial contact on walking into the premise we felt valued and were welcomed each time we came and went. We stayed Thursday 15th February 2024 until Monday 19th February 2024.
Our room was ready upon arrival and was spotless. Everything that is needed is provided but should you want anything else or say more coffee or tea then one only has to ask. Nothing is too much trouble.
Each room has the famously comfortable Premier Inn bed; large flat screen tv; tea and coffee making facilities and full en-suite bathroom with fresh towels, soaps and hairdryer. We were on the third floor which was accessible to all by a lift and staircase. Rooms are cleaned daily but you may reduce the frequency if it suits you.
We opted for the top quality daily breakfast in the restaurant on the ground floor located next to reception. There was an ample selection consisting of pastries, toast, cereals and an array of soft drinks including coffee and a variety of teas. You can choose a full continental or full English or if you want you can have both! You can have as much as you like and it is freshly cooked to order by Les and personal service to your table by Sharon, David or Jack (Les also serves as well as cooking!).
Check in is 3pm and checking out is a comfortable 12 noon. We are really sad to be leaving but we most definitely will be returning later this year and time and time again! This business benefits from a superb teamwork ethos and each and every member goes out of their way to look after you! Well done Washington!

Great place to stay, excellent accessibility, really good breakfasts. The room was very comfortable, clean and was one of the very best accessible rooms I have used with a very well equipped wet room offering lots of stability engendering confidence for the unsteady. The staff were excellent, friendly, willing and helpful, nice folk. I will certainly be back, this is now my hotel of choice for visiting relatives in the area.

The hotel is located in a very good place for Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham (places we visited during our stay). It is located on a quiet road which meant we heard no traffic noise at night time. The rooms were pleasant, well laid out, clean and kept at a high standard. The reception staff are excellent and extremely friendly.

We stayed at the Premier Inn Washington Hotel recently for a 1 night stay. We arrived quite late at night, and Tracy on reception was fantastic. Very efficient at getting us checked in quickly and explaining all of the information we'd need for our stay. We had planned to go back out to get milk for the toddler, and when I asked Tracy where we could go, she said not to travel back out so late at night and that she would get us a bottle of milk. It might seem like a small gesture to some, but after being on the road for hours with a sleepy, grumpy toddler in tow, her kindness really touched me and I was very grateful.

The following afternoon on reception, Kimbo was just as helpful. He kindly stored my suitcase away until my partner could collect us, and sorted my little chap out with another bottle of milk when he'd turned into the Tasmanian Devil as nap time approached.

The hotel itself was everything I'd expect from a Premier Inn - clean, very friendly staff, comfortable beds, nice rooms etc.

This isn't a criticism, just an observation, but the rooms are very small compared to other Premier Inns I've stayed in. As we had the double bed and single bed, there wasn't much room left, and we had the pram to store and two overnight cases, so it did feel a little tight, but nothing to complain about. I'm just sharing that in case it helps anybody else who might turn up with far too much luggage like we did!

There are no baths in the rooms which was fine for one night, but if you were staying longer with a baby/toddler, it could be a problem. The shower head is fitted in, so can't be brought down to rinse the children down, so this would put me off staying for any longer than a night. This is clearly stated on the website when booking though, so again, not a criticism, just information for others.

All in all, a very lovely stay at Premier Inn.

Just as a final note if you arrive late, there is nothing nearby for food. We arrived at 9pm and went over to the Toby Carvery at 9.10pm, to be told they stopped serving at 9pm (whilst watching them take trays full of carvery food back into the kitchen untouched - either to chuck in the bin or use the next day; who knows?). [Noting that the Toby Carvery is in no way affiliated with Premier Inn; it just happens to be situated on the same complex.]

The Premier Inn doesn't have its own restaurant attached and there was nothing else nearby, so we had to drive out to get some food. Just something to note if you are arriving late, to bring food with you or stop somewhere beforehand.

We arrived and was automatically met with a friendly lady who couldn't do enough for you. Our room was spotless and the bed and pillows looked so fresh and the sheets smelt like home. We run out of coffee etc in our room and went to reception the nxt day and we needed up having such a laugh with the 3 staff working, we talked and laughed for ages. They were so helpful, refilled the tea bags etc and changed the batteries in the remote.
I would love to go back soon but I live in London and the drive is so long. Overall the best premier inn I have every stayed in. The Toby carvery being a 10 second walk away is also a bonus for the breakfast and champs over the road dies an amazing burger
Thank you for a great stay

I was pleasantly surprised about this Premier inn. I didn't expect much due to the cheap price of £29, and was only using the hotel as a night break from my 12 hour journey to Scotland, but this hotel was very pleasant.

Check in and check out was quick and smooth. The staff were so welcoming and polite, and remembered me when I returned the following week to go home. Rooms were very clean and tidy, with beds comfy.

I had breakfast both times, around £8 for unlimited breakfast including drinks. Lots on offer to eat, cooked food, continental and plenty of fruit and drinks.

Location was very easy to find and tucked away near a residential area which was brilliant as it meant far less noise from outside, but still close to the motorway.

My only negative point would be the WiFi. Whilst it is free, something that's usually charged in other hotels I stay at, the connection isn't the best and is quite slow. Secondly, nothing to do with the hotel itself, but the Toby carvery across the road was awful, expensive for the small portions and lack of choice. I would recommend eating at the hotel instead personally.

Overall, I would 100% recommend this Premier Inn and it will now become my designated night stop off when I do my yearly trips to Scotland. Keep up the good work!

Had a great stay here, all the staff were so friendly, cheerful and helpful.
We got ground floor rooms as requested, breakfasts were lovely as always and kids loved the showeroom that had a door that seperated the toilet from the shower.

Thank you.

We booked a stay of six nights here as a family in order to explore the North East. (There had been some concern that we would be taking something of a risk to visit this region at a time of heightened virus restrictions, but we needn't have worried, because the Premier Inn takes the matter seriously and ensures that its guests are well-protected).

The hotel is perfectly located next to the A1 for easy access to Durham and Hadrian's Wall, which were the two major attractions we had long wanted to visit.

The hotel itself is modern, very well-appointed, clean, and proved to be the ideal base for us. Value for money was superb in late September and we would happily return to see more of the area.

Reception staff (including Jack and his colleagues) all provided outstanding customer service throughout our stay and couldn't have been more helpful, more welcoming, or more professional. Very impressed.

Room - no plug sockets next to bed, tv wasn’t in front of the bed, one seat to watch tv (there was two of us) other couldn’t see tv from bed.
Uncleanliness bathroom - super dated bathroom, shower curtain super unhygienic especially during covid if not changed between each guest.

This premier inn needs a big update!
