This is a real find.Warm, welcoming and excellent food. Set in the Peaceful Hamlet of Ilmington. The rooms are divine ,with luxurious bathrooms to match. We really enjoyed our two days and our relatives were so impressed when they joined us for luncheon. We arrived to an amazing Christmas Fair where we indulged and bought the biggest brandy snaps ever.

When enjoying a relaxing weekend away I look for comfort, good food, quiet but efficient service and somewhere nearby to visit if the fancy takes me. The Howard Arms in Ilmington provides all this and more. High quality accommodation in a beautiful setting helps, too. Highly recommended.

I stopped overnight at this lovely village inn and although late arriving, my colleague and I were shown to our rooms, we had a table booked for us and although the place was heaving and not a parking space to be found, our food order was taken and we did not have to wait long before being seated and fed....

We popped in here for a bite to eat at a friend's recommendation and he was spot on. Our food was excellent. I had an absolutely gorgeous burger preceded by sumptuous mussels; Mrs had the beef sirloin Sunday roast and loved it. Great ambience, nice beer. We will certainly be back!!

Visited last Wednesday at lunchtime. Had probably the best meal we have had out all year - or maybe even longer! Great food, great staff, great location - couldn't want more. Highly recommended. The chef is clearly passionate about the quality of the food leaving his/her kitchen and the staff make one feel welcome and valued.

It was a one-night stop, with dinner - very enjoyable. The meal was very good and so was the bottle of Lawson's Dry Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2015. The liver, the plaice, the vegetables and the desserts were all good, without being over-fussy. Our room ('Cotswold') was spacious, well-equipped and had a big, comfortable bed. The cooked breakfast was good, too....

We were only here for 1 midweek night, wish it had been more. Lovely large room had everything we could need, had a bit of a run in with the shower, but no biggie. Dinner was outstanding from starters to an amazing sticky toffee pudding. Breakfast was really good as well. Lovely small town.

We went on a Monday and found it busy , our food was good and we will return. It is unfortunate that Tripadvisor have left it off their map of the locality so that first time visitors will not know about it. Maybe the locals will be happy about that!!! It is listed on their site if you put in...

This was our first visit to The Howard Arms. Unfortunately we arrived later than expected but the staff were very understanding and accommodating. We were shown to our room in person which was a nice touch. The room was spacious and clean and included luxury toiletries, ground coffee & home made biscuits. The quality of the food served in the...

A good room, good food , friendly staff- who could ask for more? We had The Garden Room which is spacious and well laid out. The quality of the fittings was top grade but the price for b & b was very reasonable. Dinner was excellent with plenty of choice. The attentive staff cleared plates promptly and couldn't be more...
