I have to say, the Sunday lunch menu last night at The Bell was fantastic. Excellent value for money at £13.95 for the roast. I had the calves liver at £14.95 which was beautifully tender, served with garlic mushy peas and new potatoes. Service was good and lovely atmosphere.

We had the Sunday Roasts, fantastic, with good, efficient Staff and superb food. The Bell is a Gem but is badly let down by the Room we were given which was of a very poor standard. Room 4 is adjacent to the main Hotel block, very basic, poor lighting, bathroom/Toilet shoehorned into a very small space. We could hear everything...

We chose the Bora Bora room which looked good on website pictures... it didn't work effectively! We had to ask for a new TV remote (the batteries were corroded!! The toilet didn't take waste away and was noisy (motorized pump). Minute round sink stuck in the corner where you couldn't wash properly. Water drained very slowly. the wardrobe handle wasn't...

Honestly this place is the best for food in the local area. I always look forward to visiting and never leave disappointed. The food is priced very reasonably for the quality that you get from the chef. A little tip would be to have the soup of the day as a starter as it's always beautiful. Ashley, the owner is...

Friendly welcome, offered a table close to the open fire which we opted for. A full menu with daily specials was presented to us, we were informed about the soup of the day which was pumpkin and carrot. Our attention was also drawn to the specials of the day which included a chicken, leak and bacon pie. We opted for...

Many reviews say it is overpriced but they have 2 for 1 deals on homemade pies and burgers midweek. Great food and friendly staff. No complaints here. Despite its village location they have tried to give it a feel that is a mix of modern and traditional. Personally I think they should make it look more traditional.

We called in for lunch on a day's cycling trip. We know the food is good, and generally good value. My cheese board came with plenty of cheese but only one slice of bread. They charged £3 for another!

Never go back, that;s what we said last time, but today we did, if only because we were cycling and the Winged Spur (next nearest pub) is closed and up for sale. All we wanted was a pint and a sandwich each, Good choice of sandwiches were advertised with salad and chips at £5.95, that's not bad around here @...

The Bell looks promising, charming village location, rustic interior, plenty of self promotion about quality of sourcing, 'fiercely independent of chains' etc... The reality is poorly cooked pub grub at top end gastro pub prices. I had haddock fillet (which hadn't been de-boned) with a tiny amount of lumpy garlic mash, which was literally drowning in butter. One of the...
