The Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa is frequently celebrated for its inviting spa facilities and outdoor pool, alongside commendable service that guests find professional and warm. Its historic charm and cozy lounges contribute to an overall pleasant atmosphere, although some guests think it could use a touch-up in decor and maintenance.
While the clean and luxurious rooms are a highlight, a few travelers suggest that greater attention to detail could enhance the experience. Opinions on value are split, with some guests believing the experience justifies the cost, despite others pointing out high prices and extra fees.

This is our 4th visit to this hotel and we loved it again . The hotel made us feel safe with the measures put in during Covid . The room was beautiful and perfectly suited to us having our small dog with us . Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but this is not a problem , as they set up a table for us in one of the lounges and this felt really special . The service/ dining experience was excellent, both for breakfast and dinner . Great quality ingredients used in all food options .
The hotel location is amazing and very relaxing . It sits within its own grounds with a 5 minute walk down the path onto Climping beach . The hotel is spread over several buildings , each room individual. Previously we have stayed in the main building , but this time we chose the Climping building , with large modern rooms on the ground floor , ideal with our dog . The bathroom in our room was indulgent, with two sinks , free standing roll top bath and extra large shower .
I went each day to use the outdoor pool at the spa ( there is also indoor pool and gym) There were plenty of sun beds for relaxing in the September sunshine .
Overall a great relaxing 3 nights at this special hotel , where you are always made to feel welcome .

Really loved this hotel and had a wonderful weekend. Have stayed in a number of Pride of Britain places and never disappoint. The history of the place was fascinating and quite eccentric and wonderful. Unique I’d say.
Our room was light and spacious with a divine walk in large shower without any complicated knobs 🙏 and a really deep, long bath - ideal for tall people. We could hear the sea roaring in the distance from our room with windows open at night.
Main house was charming with a number of rooms all individual with different atmosphere and decor. One v cosy room with roaring log fire.
Enjoyed exploring the grounds and a short walk to the seaside with a pebble beach but off beach trails great for dogs. Also tried the indoor pool in the evening which was good size and in a lovely conservatory style building with wood beams. I only wish I’d tried the outdoor one, I could see steam rising from it. The spa felt v Scandinavian.
My only small, very petty little criticism was that the room only had horrible Nescafé sachets. Bring your own coffee and cafetière - unless you don’t mind calling room service as of course they’ll bring some. Still, Nescafé ?! 🤢

We visited Bailiffs for a lovely afternoon tea following a walk on Climping beach. We loved the building and the welcome received with our dogs so we decided to book an overnight.
It is a wonderful old building with beautiful gardens just a short walk from Climping beach.
The staff are wonderful and so hospitable and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. It is very dog friendly and there is a lovely indoor and outdoor pool.
It would be great if there was an outdoor wash station for dogs, we have seen this work well in other similar hotels. It would be good to have more dog and waste bins around as hotels guests had just thrown waste bags on the floor on the lovely path to the beach.
The food and wine is really good and the staff are clearly working so hard to maintain standards and keep things efficient from a Covid 19 point of view. The rose garden and terrance were beautifully candle lit in the evening which always enhances the dining experience . The dining room although a beautiful space was lacking in atmosphere due to bad lighting and carpet. It has so much potential. All of the lounges are cosy and very nicely decorated. The bedrooms and in particular the bathrooms could be better. They could do with an upgrade and the bathrooms are very basic considering the cost of the rooms. The vibe is very relaxed and very welcoming. It is a little hidden gem and we look forward to returning in the winter.

My partner booked this for me as a treat for Valentines Day.
The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to explore them due to the weather! The room I was in was small but cosy, however we were slightly disappointed by some aspects for the price we paid. There was mould around the windows and the skirting boards were worn, so could do with some attention. The bathroom was large, and had a very nice bath tub. They were also very generous with the teas and coffees and homemade shortbread which was a nice finishing touch.
Frustratingly the rooms are separate to the spa so you have to go outside with your robes and slippers on but appreciate not much can be done about this.
There was an extensive selection for breakfast although we chose to get room service. There was an additional charge for this, £5 for continental and £10 for cooked. Although a fee for room service is to be expected but it seemed a bit steep to charge an additional £10 to have a cooked breakfast delivered. The cooked breakfast was of an average quality.
Would love to stay here again.

The hotel is in a very nice location, you can walk the grounds or take a longer stroll along the beach to Littlehampton.
Rooms are excellent with very nice decor, you can have modern or traditional as they have both here. Hotel was full but you would not have know it and there is plenty of space for everyone here. One plus is we had a small issue with our shower, it was fixed within an hour or so - no fuss just fixed.
Food is excellent and they have the balance right in portion size.
Service was a little haphazard during our stay but we put that down to new staff and the issues currently within hospitality.
Spa is very nice, plenty of space indoors and out. Again full on all days we were here but did not feel it, nice trick that now many places can pull off.
It is not cheap but these days you get what you pay for so if you are staying make sure you are on the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate. For example dinner is £55 per person.
The only thing stopping an excellent rating was the inconsistencies on the service front. We will return in the hope these get ironed out as we had an excellent break and our dogs loved the place.

Stayed during their first week of opening after Lockdown. Had fab weather so was able to lounge around and enjoy the outside pool which was glorious. They had a good system of allowing only 7 people in pool at time, with a limit of 20 mins if people were waiting. Due to unusual circumstances the child free hours have been suspended, it would have been nice to have some adult only swim time but understandable why not at present time and children were well behaved. The hotel is stunning and in marvellous location, near to the beach and glorious walks all around. We ate breakfast and dinner outside in the beautiful courtyard, the food was delicious There was a small issue at breakfast of timing with mains coming out at same time as our first course. Also our room was cleaned by mistake once after we had requested not to, they ask when checking in if you want housekeeping in these unusual times but unfortunately the message wasn't passed on. Apart from those couple of mistakes we had a wondrous time and fully recommend the hotel and hope to return.

Even with the absolutely awful weather we had the most wonderful evening away. The welcome was warm and the spa lovely. The spa was clean and the pools inside and outside warm and not too busy. We were able to use both days of our stay Our room was warm and cosy and we had a log fire that we were encouraged to use - it was simply wonderful. Dinner was delicious although my husband and I have simple tastes what we had was nice all washed down with a bottle of Prosecco. Faultless service would truly recommend for a romantic night away.
Our room was huge and cosy with a lovely en-suite we would have liked to stay longer
We walked to the beach which would be stunning in sunny ☀️ weather
Breakfast was a treat with everything you could possibly desire available hot and delicious
We will certainly come back ❤️

Three ladies visited for lunch on the last Wednesday of “eat out to help out” on entering the front door no signs or staff available to tell us where to go, keeping in mind Covid restrictions. After about 8-10 mins a male staff member appeared & took us under his wing, we were seated in the courtyard & given menus, he returned to take our orders & all was fine until we asked for the bill.... we followed a lady into a store room where she worked out the bill & when we asked for it to be split three ways we all had to go along to reception where the WiFi was better we each paid our third & left. It was only myself who had the bill in my hand & realised we had not received the discount so I returned to reception & queried it. After about 15-20 minutes with receptionist gone to accounts she returned telling me the accounts lady was very busy but she would ring me within two weeks to get my credit card number & process the refund then! I was totally at a loss as to why with myself standing there it could not be done there & then!! However after two weeks I rang them & was put off again until a week later when I rang them again & had to wait for someone else to call me! How a lovely, expensive hotel we have used before can think this is acceptable for £30.00 is totally beyond me.

My wife and I have stayed here before on 3 occasions a long time ago before they had spa facilities. We loved it so much, and it's such a special place, that we decided to stay two nights for our 40th wedding anniversary. We took the dinner, breakfast and bed option with full use of the spa and gym facilities and they offered a £60 voucher for the spa, which we put towards the many massage options. The indoor and outdoor pools are wonderful, a good size, and most importantly for me, heated. The gym has a decent number of different machines. The main two attributes that make this hotel special and different from most are a) the building architecture (and history that is so interesting), and b) the food/restaurant. I have never tasted food with such amazingly good flavour. The choices are excellent too. The afternoon tea looked great too, although we did not partake in that personally. I recommend this hotel and spa very highly, and certainly it's one of the best we've ever been to.

I was 80 last year. Rather than have a party I decided to give my big family a treat. We stayed for 24hours at Bailiffs Court.
From first inquiring about prices and availability I was treated with kindness and helpfulness . It was rather daunting getting it all right, with children coming as well. All went smoothly and we had a wonderful time.
We had various food allergies which didn’t pose a problem and the food was delicious.
The family loved the pools and had a great time and we also went for a breezy walk to the sea.
I had great spa treatments and came home feeling refreshed.
The rooms are very luxurious and my husband and `I had a beautiful special room as it was my birthday.
This was a very expensive treat but worth every penny. Thank you Bailiffs Court you were great

Our friends stayed there and said the room service was excellent. Hope this helps.
Smart casual.
I think that’s fine. Sorry for the delay in replying!
Which room has the best view - Some of the Climping rooms have views over the fields which can be nice. Sowthewode over looks the Rose garden.
Not all rooms have baths
I would suggest giving the hotel a call & the reception team can find the room which best fits your needs .
If your worried about the cab fare from the Station don't bother going!
