Detailed Reviews
I was looking for somewhere to kill some time on Christmas eve waiting to collect family and I happened upon this pub. ( Google maps wasn't working I wanted a mcdonalds) I was hungry so decided why not!!! As soon as I walked in I felt comfortable the staff were exceptional and I ended up spending a very amusing lunchtime chatting with several people at the bar. The food was really good as was the coffee. I would definitely recommend this place even of.youre on your own.

Hot on Covid rules. All staff wearing masks. Pub itself is very clean and welcoming.
Third visit since new management, Will and Michelle, who were pleased to see us again. Good atmosphere. Dog friendly, there is even a dog treat menu.
Food is fresh, homemade and good portions and I like that they change the menu so different choices each time, vegetarians also feel they have a choice in our group.
LiAnne, our waitress, was very attentive, friendly and helpful.
Will definitely be going back. Great for any occasion, dinner for two, family meal, or girlie catch-up. Thank you for a pleasant Sunday meal.

Excellent service and lovely food in a friendly peaceful environment at the Roebuck.
I stayed for two nights in one of the adjoining rooms.
The room was very clean, spacious and looked recently decorated.
As breakfast isn’t served until 8am I thought about asking for something to take away as i wanted to be gone earlier.
It was no problem at all for the staff who were only to obliging on both mornings with a small hamper of cold cereals, bread etc.
An excellent home from home whilst working away.

+1
We booked three nights at the end of October 2022 - but would have left earlier if there was a short notice alternative available.
The room is in a separate building in the garden of the pub. The room itself has been renovated, but the building is completely damp - so all the brickwork is wet. This means it is musty and mouldy in the room. You can smell and see that. There is only one small window that cannot be opened completely. It is dark in the room, so you need light even during the day. Minor issue: The light from the fire alarm is very bright.
We had dinner there the first night. The burger served was topped with lettuce leaves that anyone else would have thrown in the organic waste bin. There was no apology, and nothing was offered. Weird attitude.
After the first night in the worst air imaginable, we went to breakfast. That was allright.
In the evening we went out for dinner (different place) and when we came back we found that there was no housekeeping. Coffee cups dirty, no coffee powder refilled, bed not made, simply nothing. We had never experienced that before!
The second night we sat down on the terrace for a while, bought a non-alcoholic beer at the bar, my husband had found German beer in a shop nearby, which he drank on the terrace. Then an employee came and grumbled at us that we can't drink beer from elsewhere here. No hello, no introduction. We explained to her that we were staying here overnight (our open room door was a whole two metres away). She didn't care, she insisted that we could only drink the beer in the room.
Hospitable? Rather not. And given the mouldy and musty state of the room, probably a health risk.
Moreover, the accommodation is right between two busy roads.
Not to be recommended at all.

We had a cosy and very lovely room ( called stables) . The bath was spacious and clean and the beds super comfy. Nice design . The excellent breakfast with best croissants a variety of fruits and cereals as well as delicious food in the pub made our stay perfect. Heartwarming details in this dog friendly place and super kind and attentive staff made us feel at time . We would have loved to stay longer .

Just visited the Cowdray under new management. Warm welcome, fabulous fresh cooked food. Good size portions, the vegetarian goats cheese Wellington was outstanding and the chocolate brownie was heaven on a plate. New owners and staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back. Thank you we all really enjoyed our meals, even the kids.

So very pleased with my room at the Cowdray, beautifully presented, clean and cosy with the most comfortable bed. Had luncheon here, a satisfying experience and was by far the highest quality, delicious meal that came with an excellent service. The owner Michelle and her husband are a credit to their Pub and Restaurant and deserve continued success. Great people and a wonderful establishment. Marina

Beautiful setting and never fails to exceed expectations. Great food with the most helpful and friendly staff. Michelle and Will go out of their way to ensure you have an unforgettable experience. With Christmas fast approaching, it is very tastefully decorated and made me want to return very soon.

Called into the Cowdray Arms to waste some time before attending a wedding...what a great pub/b&b. Staff were friendly and helpful and service was excellent. Decided to have a "light bite" and found the menu was varied and well priced. Recomend a visit.

We have driven past this pub / restaurant for years and watched closures , building renovations and reopenings . Lunch on the spur of a moment yesterday was a pleasant surprise . Very warm welcome by Michelle and her staff Leanne and Matt . Delicious food and good atmosphere. Well worth revisiting.
