Did not stay at the hotel but visited several times in the evening for food and/or a pint or two. Staff and other punters (not sure if local or visitors) were welcoming and friendly. Good food as well! Many thanks to all for a enjoyable visit.

Great destination for a road trip and worth a walk around town . The pub is old and exactly what one would expect of the type and age of the place . While the accommodation and meal is good value, and the lamb cutlets really good , it would still be good value for a bit more money and the...

We spent one night in the hotel. It is a great little town to visit. The hotel is very very old and I have to say the room was in need of a better clean. The bed was clean and so were the sheets but the room needed a bit of TLC in the vacuum area. The bathrooms were clean...

We ate a hamburger at the Royal Hotel in Hill End. It was ok but not more. The place was run-down and poorly cleaned. The service could have been better. Hill End is an interesting gold mining town with many well-preserved old buildings. It was nice to walk around and look at the old houses. On our visit the place...

We got an amazing deal for accommodation with dinner and breakfast. The Pub was a real old fashioned style and had seen better days, however it was in keeping with whole town. The food was simply and really good. The main draw back was that it was quite dirty. The share bathrooms had plenty of mould didn't look as if...

Had a great ride to Hill End and went to the Royal for lunch. Limited menu. Our group ordered burgers of various types and all enjoyed them. Big and tasty with a serve of beautiful, crispy chips. As you'd expect in an historic pub in a small, country town. Food service a little slow but also not unexpected in a...

Lamb cutlets and vegetables, not too bad, our travel companions had hamburgers and cold chips. The next table guests simply took one or two bites and then left. Very simple place. Certainly has room for improvement

I had visited Hill End over the years mainly camping and 4 wheel driving in the past, but now in my older age :) decided to visit Hill End again and experience a couple of nights at one of the original Hill End Hotels The Royal Hotel, built in the 1800's when Queen Victoria was on the throne, Hotel staff...

Warm cosy bar with great atmosphere and easy conversations. Very welcoming and flexible barman Pete looked after us straight away and the owner couple, represented by Wendy, made our stay an easy and memorable one. Rooms were fine and comfortable beds. Excellent Saturday night meal. They were able to look after our group of 16 with charm and humour. We...

$50 for accomodation, breakfast and dinner is hard to beat! Couple that run the hotel are kind and accomodating. Rooms are clean enough, bed linen was perfectly clean. Food is basic pub food, nothing to rave about but filling and generous. Will definitely return.
